Weight Loss on the Web

A search for weight loss returns an overwhelming 159,000,000 results. If that's not confusing I don't know what is. So what do the people at Forbes have to say in their "Best of the Web" in Diet & Nutrition?

They picked out 13 sites - with eDiets topping the list as their favorite. Incredibly out these 13 sites - 10 of them are subscriber-only commercial weight loss programs! Some of these sites offer excellent programs - but why do we get the impression that weight loss is something you have to pay for?

Of the remaining three sites - one is worth a mention - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet. This site has huge amounts of content, and the moderators over there run an impressive set of support forums. They have a membership program whereby you can pay to receive an ad-free environment (among other things).

There are various other sites offering free tools such as Fit Day, and recently I had an email from Dr Gily Ionescu who has been building a free weight loss site as a hobby - see Dr Gily.

Too Much Information
One of the biggest ebook sellers is clickbank.com - at last check they have around 90 (yes that's ninety) diet eBooks on sale... I have had the opportunity to read a small number of these - and to be honest - very few have anything original or inspiring to say.

People often send me material for review. One such program I've read recently is Internet Fitness Trainer by fitness trainer Amy Elder. The eBook contains some good weight training programs with embedded instruction videos - and the price includes personalized support (for one year) from the author.

When trying to lose weight - motivation and consistency can be one of the hardest things. Nutrition plans are relatively easy to come by - but what's really helpful is someone to cheer you on when the going gets tough. This is why internet support forums can be so helpful.

Good post, thanks! May I also recommend NutritionData (http://nutritiondata.com), a fantastic nutrition database. And also for Weight Watchers fans, Dotti's Weight Loss Zone is an invaluable resource (http://www.dwlz.com).

I have been searching the web for Low-GI dieting, that does not cost a dime. Of course EDiets IS the most popular, with a nominal fee. Are you telling me that if I want assistance with my weightloss that I have to commit to a plan, and if I don't, I'm not as worthy as others with the same issue? Or is it that my level of commitment is not there?...wow talk about a blow to your self-esteem and motivation.

I don't understand your comments. The support forums listed are _FREE_ and support anyone doing anything.

What I am saying is that the QUALITY of the information may not be as good as the paying sites. I did see the information on the free sites, there is plenty, but for what I am looking for, I would have to pay a site EDiets, to get more information/assistance.

It is not surprising with the overweight and obesity epidemic in the United States that there would be that many search results for “weight loss”. Part of the problems is there are many unscrupulous advertisers that offer a quick fix to what is usually a long term problem. Out of desperation many people waste their money on ineffective products. A healthy low glycemic index diet, consistent exercise, and in some cases weight loss medications and hormonal optimization will usually produce good weight loss results. I have found DietPower software to be very helpful at www.dietpower.com

Hi.

I understand that there are loads of weight loss products out there in the market.

I’m posting on this forum because I sell products to help people loose weight, which I think is fantastic.

My products really work well, I know you’d expect me to say this as I m promoting my website, however while I was on the diet I lost 1 inch in 2 weeks (after going to the gym 5 nights a week), and at the moment not only am I feeling better about myself but also, I have lots more energy and have lost weight.

One of the most important thing about my products are that they are 100% natural and ANYONE can use them because they contain no drugs at all and I offer a 30 day money back guarantee.

If you are serious about loosing weight please visit my site and give it a go, I urge you!

As an independent distributor I follow up ALL of my leads PERSONALLY to make sure that you stay on the right track, and that you are enjoying the product

And I’m always here to answer your questions on the end of a phone or via email.

Thank you taking your time in reading this, remember your path to a better body and happiness is a click away.

"while I was on the diet I lost 1 inch in 2 weeks (after going to the gym 5 nights a week)"

To me, those results don't say anything about your "products". I think anybody would lose at least an inch after hitting the gym ten times in two weeks!

Your website doesn't mention any products, but I'm curious, what's in them?

Let me guess:
Garcinia cambogia
and/or
Citrus aurantium
and/or
Hoodia gordonii
and/or
Great tea extract
and/or
Guarana (or caffeine)
and/or
Cayenne pepper
and/or
Yerba mate
and/or
White willow bark
and/or
etc.
and/or
etc.
Just like every other herbal weight loss product on the market, right?

LOL... thats really funny. Heck.. I've lost 1 inch in one week by just exercising 3 times in a week. I dont need a pill for that, guarantee or not.

You may think herbal supplements are safe because they're labeled "natural." But many herbal supplements contain active ingredients that can harm you if taken with certain prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. Be wary of health food stores and Internet sites that promote these products.
