Celebrity Diets: Maple Syrup?
Sugarshock Blog points to a feature in People. The photographic article documents the (apparent) dietary regimes of various female celebrities. The article contains some absolute gems such as Red Eye star Rachel McAdams: '...her love for sugar helps keep her thin. "I drink maple syrup," she admits. "Then I'm hyper so I just run around like crazy and work it all off."'
These comments upset the author of the Sugar Shock Blog so much that she published her own press release.
I didn't think anyone took these celebrity diet stories seriously. Drinking maple syrup? I think we have more serious issues with our young - such as a culture of binge drinking and drug abuse. Still, drinking maple syrup is extreme as far as foolhardy food choices go.
Other interesting quotes are Kate Hudson who stars in movie Skeleton Key.
After gaining 60 lbs. while pregnant with 19-month-old son Ryder, Kate Hudson lost the weight “pretty fast" by relying on a 1,500-calorie-a-day diet that was high in protein and low in carbs – and doing three-hour daily workouts3 hour workouts - daily... Someone has a lot of time on their hands!
Maple Syrup diet is back in the press - see more about Beyonce Knowles and her Maple Syrup detox.

Drinking maple syrup? My husband did that once in college on a dare when he was drunk. I don't think it made him lose any weight, it just made his roommates think he was really brave.
ReplyI'm sure the men in Hollywood have to follow diets to keep their jobs just like the women do, so why weren't they covered? It certainly reinforces the idea that our culture puts more pressure on women to be thin and pretty than on men.
ReplyYES!!! And that idea is perpetuated through most forms of advertising. The pressure on some of these young women must be enormous.
ReplyLike maple syrup and beer, peanut butter is one of the bad things in life that are actually good for you. Sure it's high in kilojoules, but that is because it's packed with the same healthy monounsaturated fats as olive oil - the original death-defying potion. But olive oil tastes terrible with jam, and it makes your toast floppy. So peanut butter is a better choice. It's heart therapy you can spoon straight out of the bottle.
Replymaple sirup??! you gotta be jocking!
ReplyMaple syrup everyday along with apple cidar vinegar helped me lose 20 pounds in less than 6 months. Of course you can't chug the stuff, but if used as a replacement for tabel sugar, this stuff works wonders. Stevia is another good sweetener, but it has a taste i don't really like. Pure 100% maple syrup is beautiful on the taste buds.
Replymaple syrup??????? I am going to try that one day!!! LOL
ReplyMaple Syrup Diet, what will they come out with next. This has been all over the news here in England as Beyonce is promoting her new album and is said to have lost lots of weight for her latest movie on this diet.
All I can say is that this may be something you can do for a quick fix but it isn't sustainable over a long period. As we all know the trouble with losing a lot of weight over a short period of time is that we revert to our old habits and put back even more weight as our metabolism drops.

ReplyI would like to also know more about the maple syrup diet. What are the steps to follow? I am going to try it but I am going to also have fruits and vegetables.
Thank you
Replydoes it matter if you use organic maple syrup or just the odinary one?
Replyit sounds really good, although its not all that it is meant out to be either though. like beyonce said she put all the weight that she lost through this maple syrup diet on practically instantly. so that once your body is cleaned away all the toxins and is healthier and some weight is lost - its all going to come back when you stop the diet. it says that on the 4th day you can start eating healthy but if eating healthy was the answer people wouldn't be wanting to diet. so when you start eating again healthy or not healthy food the weight is going to come back again. also another thing that beyonce said was that it is dangerous to do this diet as it can damage your body and not only that, that you could put you in hospital if the right help isn't given to you. she says that its a good diet to use for things like movies and all that but not in the long run. i would really think about taking this diet - after choosing the right person to guide you along and put into consideration all the dangers of it too.
Replyam definitely going to try this. will keep you posted
ReplyIt really doesn't matter what Beyonce' says. She didn't create this diet...And that's another thing,it's not just another diet, it's called a Master Cleanse Diet. On it's official site it tells you that this diet is specifically designed to rid your body of all the bad toxins, to help you start fresh and cleanse your body. This form of fasting has been around since the 1950s, Beyonce' was just one of the first ones to talk about it nationally. And let's keep it real real, if it was really all that bad for you (famous or not),(movie or not)you wouldn't be encouraged to do it. People go on fasts all the time, it's just a matter of what they do while they're on that fast. If it was really all that dangerous Beyonce' would have never done it...Don't be deceived, sometimes celebrities tell you one thing and then another, so you won't really know their secrets.
ReplyStarted the maple syrup/lemon detox today and plan to do it for 5 days. will let you know the results. The drink tastes GREAT! -by the way.

ReplyI was eating too much maple syrup and my joints were swelling (especially my knee, to the point where I saw a Physical Therapist). I stopped maple syrup (told it was too "YIN") and the condition has improved remarkably. Everything in MODERATION!

Drinking water and eating healthy has the same effect.
ReplyWHAT THE HECK IS A SALT FLASH??
ReplyI MEANT FLUSH
Replyi have been thinking about doing this detox for a while, but have heard that it makes you really tired, i have two young kids so i need all the energy i can get. can someone (who's done it) let me know how they felt. oh and a salt flush is just salt and water but i have been warned to stay near a toilet after drinking this as aparently it acts like a laxative!
ReplyI think that the maple syrup diet clearly dictates that we can sweeten up our foods without packing on the calories or adding in sugar or artificial sweeteners. Afterall, natural sweeteners are less on calories, doesn't contain any aspartame or sucralose whatsoever, and it's nutrient-rich.
Replyabout the salt water flush, how much salt does the water need and how much water do we drink?
Replydoes anyone know if the diel will still work if you just use maple syrup and hot water?
Replyhow long does it take for the diet to start working once you actually start...im on day 2 now and nothings happened
Reply'ladyshe' did u complete the diet for the 10days? did it work?
Does anyone no if it will work if u use ordinary marple syrup or does it have to be the natural make???
ReplyI've done this...and it works
the drink is made up of 2 tsp of maple syrup (organic b grade if pos), 2 tsp of lemon juice (freshly squeezed) and a pinch or 2 of caynene pepper.
i didn't do the extreme flush but swapped my breakfast and lunch with 2 or 3 half-pints of the drink, hot or cold, and eat a healthy dinner.
the salt water is made up of 2-3 tsp of salt to litre of water, but i cudn't always bring my self to swallow it. it does work as a sort of laxative but its not too severe and just flushes out all the crap.
the drink is actually really nice so i found myself drinking it after the diet!
its a great place to start losing weight, but don't just go back to eating junk after, stay on a healthy diet, using this as a kickstart to weightloss!
hope this helps and answers alot of questions!

Replytry this fun diet get two table spoons of pancake syurp and lime jucie and 8 oz of water put it all together and shake it up and you get a sweet loveable drink for lossing wieght you can use instead of lunch. Its Beyonce's diet
can you do the maple diet without pepper
Replyi am doing this right now. i lost about 10 pounds in five days. my friend told me about it. she didn't know exactly how much weight she lost but she went down about a pant size or so.
Unlike a fast without any calories at all, this liquid fast provides a small amount of calories. It really does leave you feeling less hungry though. I don't have the urge to eat as nearly as much as I used to.
Of course the weight will come back after the diet if you revert back to previous unhealthy eating habits. I think that this diet is a good way to kick unhealthy eating habits and start eating healthy and not over eating.
Another friend of mine did the diet for five days. If you do it, make sure that once you stop, to take it slow eating after the diet. She ate a large amount of food in too little of time and became nauseated and could feel her heart pumping out of her chest. Take it slow by starting with liquid foods, then soft foods then other foods.
And... i don't feel tired. I think I only felt tired on about the third day.
We all have to remember that in order to maintain our weight, healthy eating habits and exercise are most important. This diet is a quick fix... but if you begin eating healthy and excercising after the diet is over with, then I don't see a reason why the weight would be gained back unless you are like beyonce and went and ate fried chicken and waffles immediatley afterwards.
Replyi cant find more info on this diet, sounds fasinating but ive heard of a salt water solution you drink with it... what is the recipe? and how long sould this diet be followed for??!!
ReplyThe only thing that is optional in the detox, is the cayenne pepper. It just adds vitamin c,( like the lemon) and a bit a of flvor. but, it does help in loosing the weight faster, so better do it with the lemon
ReplyThis isn't a "diet"...it is a cleanse. To learn more about how this works, you can visit this site,quickfasting.com. The more you know, the healthier you CAN be!
ReplyI am only on day 1 of the maple syrup diet and I am starving!!! What, if any little snacks can we have? Also, I am at work from 9am-5pm so I have decided to do my flush at night. Is that ok? I can't be running to the bathroom at work all day!
ReplyI find it interesting how people put down people who are in shape to make themselves feel better about their own lack of discipline.
ReplyIf people would just eat a vegan diet without junk food they would not have to try these starvation diets.
Replyis it compulsory to do the salt flush because imstarting the cleanse and im nt bothered to be doin the flush...
Replywrite back plzzzzzzzzzzz
