Starved: An Eating Disorder Comedy?
All in the name of entertainment.
Starved is a "comedy" showing on FX Network. This TV critic points out that it is not a comedy at all:
The thing "Starved" has done wrong is to get billed as an eating disorder comedy. It's not. What we see most are four friends who are starved for attention, affection, validation, purpose and help. Comedy therein is borne of their drama, sans laugh tracks.
More about the show:
The attempted comedy in the show is under attack from people at the National Eating Disorders Association, who probably don't like the distorted support group the four friends belong to, a tough-love gathering called Belt Tighteners. This is what Adam (Sterling K. Brown) says in group:"I ate 212 almonds last night really fast and then puked them back so they were still kinda whole. I just washed them off and ate 'em again. I've seen dogs do it."
The group leader chastises him: "You're repugnant and weak."
Turn off the TV and go read a book. This post filed under Weird.
