Chocolate Flavored Cheese

cheese_280705_232.jpgIt's popular in Asia - processed cheese slices with a chocolate flavor.

Chesdale chocolate cheese slices have captured 10% of the cheese market in Taiwan just six months after the product's release...
...The plastic-wrapped brown-coloured slices were winning converts to dairy products in a market where cheese is traditionally shunned, Fonterra Brands Taiwan's managing director Roger Boyd said.

There's no accounting for taste...

Ah man! If this is not high in carbs, it's going to be over here in two minutes!

Think about all the Atkinsanites, and other low-carbistas! "Can I have 2#s of that semi-sweet cheese please?"

Yikes, how gross is chocolate flavoured cheese? You're right. There is NO accounting for taste!

mmmm, cheese. Ok, I do like cheese, but chocolate cheese? frances has a point though, chocolate cheese cake is good. but cream cheese doesn't count as real cheese, according to my buddy, because you don't put it on hambugers. don't ask.

You can buy this chocolate cheese in Dickeyville, Wi. at a small cheese and meat company there on the main highway.

Wow that's very interesting. Knowing that the Managing Director - Mr Roger Boyd lived in the Philippines for some years, he'd say that this chocolate flavored cheese will definitely sell to the Pinoys - probably not only to the adults but more to the kids and teeners. If we have the fruit flavored cheese cakes then the chocolate cheese cake will be a hit to the yuppies who frequent in cafes after work. Or simply for breakfast with our pan de sal. Likewise Red Ribbon, Goldilocks, Cravings, and other pastry shops in hotels can come up with something just like those chocolate cookies and personal chocolate cakes I give out every Valentine's Day. Will Fonterra Brands Phils., Inc. lauch this CHOHO CHEESE here?

Chocolate Cheese is fine. It tastes better than thought.

You can snack it or have it with toast, bread, bagels, cookies, even with ice cream!

Just don't add this chocoalte cheese into meat/fish sandwich/hamburger or it will be really weird...

Yes, I have tried chocolate cheese, but not the sliced type. The cheese I tried was a soft(brie like) similar to a cream cheese. Had this at a restaurant(which is now gone)when it was served to us after the meal with fresh cut up fruit. It was absolute heaven. It tasted more like a very soft chocolate than a cheese.

Hickory Farms used to sell chocolate cheese all the time.... wow was it good!!! I don't know about the presliced plastic wrapped version... at Hickory Farms they had giant wheels of it coated in wax, just like proper cheese.
They would cut off however much you wanted. It was amazing!!! High in fat, high in calories... but the best things always are the worst for you.
Going and buying a bit of it when I could was such a treat.

How would this hold up in different climates?
Cheese usually dries out on exposure to air, even just a little bit.
Chocolate doesn't care about air exposure, but melts easily with just a little heat.
Does the combination marry the strengths, or the weaknesses?

Rick, since this is processed cheese, I don't think it will contain real cocoa butter or anything. It looks to be just Kraft-slices-style cheese with some cocoa powder in it, and processed cheese like that only dries out with a lot of air.
