Alcohol Ads: Bald Fat Men Only Please
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) apparently "believes 'balding' and 'paunchy' men would be less likely to encourage women to drink to achieve social success.
The sparkling drink Lambrini has fallen foul of these guidelines.
The industry regulator instructed the firm: "We would advise that the man in the picture should be unattractive - ie overweight, middle-aged, balding etc."In its current form we consider that the ad is in danger of implying that the drink may bring sexual/social success, because the man in question looks quite attractive and desirable to the girls.
"If the man was clearly unattractive, we think that this implication would be removed from the ad."
In other words balding and having a large waistline indicate social failure, and an inability to achieve "success" with women.
Our social stereotypes are so fake and so very superficial. How easily we can apparently deduce a persons entire personality based on baldness patterns and size.

Are you joking, or just pandering to what you perceive your readership to be? Of course slimmer, younger men have more social success, all other things being equal.
Replywhere are the pictures?
ReplyHmmm... being a gay man who is very attracted to aging, bald, chubby men I think that the alcohol ad could be greatly improved if they did what was asked. I'd like to see myself getting a man like that just because I drank some crappy liqueur. Amazing how the substandards of society are what I like. This often applies to my musical interests, too. Fuck You, Society.
