For the Love of Dark Chocolate

The most-emailed health news item at Yahoo this week is: Good News for Dark-Chocolate Lovers. The item reports on a study showing that dark chocolate can actually lower blood pressure.

"This study is not about eating more chocolate," Blumberg added. "It suggests that cocoa flavonoids appear to have benefits on vascular function and glucose sensitivity."

What a shame... I'm sure many people would like to see chocolate named as one of the primary food groups. This study now confirms a number of studies showing that dark chocolate (as opposed to milk chocolate) does indeed improve blood function.

It's still a calorie-dense snack food - but if you're going to choose a luxury food - pick dark chocolate.
