Diet Sodas: Are Negative Calories Next?

The diet soda market has become enormously competitive - and it appears that companies like Coke are trying to cover every square inch of the market. It's inevitable that other companies will try and market their energy drinks as "diet" drinks.

EliteFX is touting their new Celsius as a metabolism booster - citing studies that apparently prove the soft drink brings about elevated metabolism.

The small study compared the Celsius drink against Diet Coke:

With Celsius, the metabolic rate increased by 13.8 percent at the end of the first hour, 14.4 percent at the second and 8.5 percent at the third. With Diet Coke, an increase of between 4 and 6 percent was observed.
EliteFX also comes up with this interesting extrapolation:
By replacing a regular soft drink with a bottle of Celsius every day for one year, even with no change in exercise habits, a person could theoretically lose up to 17 pounds,” said the company

Will we actually move from zero-calorie drinks to "negative" calorie hype?

The issues surrounding Aspartame and "misplaced" chemicals continue to concern me. Can you point me to balanced, layman-friendly articles on this?

There's a reason people in this country are overweight - they want to lose weight while not exercising and not eating right. If you want to really lose weight, there is this miracle drink on the market. It's called water.
