Low-Glycemic Beats Low-Fat?
The GI has become very popular in recent months (in the US), however despite many studies pointing to some health benefits, there have been few studies that have shown a correlation with weight loss - until now:
"Reducing (glycemic index) may be more effective than cutting back on fat over the long-term, both for weight loss and also for reducing risk of heart disease," study author Dr. David S. Ludwig told Reuters Health.
This study compared people on a traditional low-fat calorie-restricted diet with those consuming low-GI carbohydrates.
