Acomplia "Wonder Drug" Gaining Momentum
The UK NHS (public health system) is considering approving Acomplia (Rimonabant) for use as early as 2006. The so-called 'wonder drug' has (according to clinical trials) been responsible for a 10% weight loss.
It remains to be seen whether long-term healthy weight loss will ever come in a pill.
UPDATE: All clinical trials have been completed. The drug may possibly be available during 2006. Comments now closed.

I would like to participate in clinical trials. Losing weight and keeping it off has been the focus of my entire life. Watching what you eat and exercise doesn't work for everyone.
ReplyWhere can I purchase acomplia now? Is it available anywhere?
ReplyI would like to be in a clinical trial with accomplia.
ReplyI would love to be in a clinical trial for accomplia. I gained an average of 160 pounds with each of my four pregnancies. I had gestational diabeties and had gave birth to a 14 pound 3 oz. little girl. I have killed myself losing about 100 pounds in the last 20 months or so but still have another 75 pounds to go. In 1994 I was on the phen-phen pill and lost all of the weight after my first baby who was 13 lbs. After it was taken off the market I had my second baby who weighed 12 pounds and lost all of the weight but 20 lbs. I would love to know when this drug is available or any clinical studies I can be a part of. Thanks.
ReplySanofi has submitted an application for approval of Accomplia to the Food & Drug Administration. FDA chose not to fasttrack the application, so a decision is not expected til first quarter 2006. Therefore, is not currently available in the US. I'm not sure about Europe, but I haven't heard of it being approved there yet either. More information is available at http://www.acompliareport.com/
This is an independant site not affiliated with the company that makes Accomplia. Sanofi's website is http://en.sanofi-aventis.com/index.asp
I am not affiliated with the Accomplia Report website or with Sanofi. Just another frustrated person looking for some help managing my weight

ReplyI am a diabetic and have been for 18 yrs. I feel the insilin puts on. I am to have 4 injections a day but don't due to the weight increase. I'm not over weight as I control my weight by not taking my injections as prescribed. If anyone could tell me if any reactions to blood sugars either up or down I would greatly appreciate! I would love to feel better by taking my injections as prescribed but very fearful of the weight gain.
ReplyI am interested in purchasing Acomplia. Failing that, how can I get into one of the trials?
