Acomplia "Wonder Drug" Gaining Momentum
The UK NHS (public health system) is considering approving Acomplia (Rimonabant) for use as early as 2006. The so-called 'wonder drug' has (according to clinical trials) been responsible for a 10% weight loss.
It remains to be seen whether long-term healthy weight loss will ever come in a pill.
UPDATE: All clinical trials have been completed. The drug may possibly be available during 2006. Comments now closed.

I was part of a Clinical Trial for 18 months, taking 20 mg of Accomplia daily. I lost 45 pounds, over the course of 7 months. I reached the proper weight for me easily. The drug takes away cravings for fats, sweets, and large amounts of food.
ReplyI was closely monitored during the trial, and remained in good health. My high blood pressure improved as did my energy level. I was moderately active, working p-time, walking, and exercising 3 times per week.
I had a strong sense of well-being and never felt deprived in any way. It has now been 2 years, and I have gained back just 5 pounds. My body seems to remember how much and what to eat. I highly recommend Accomplia, and hope that it comes on the market very soon for all who want and need to lose weight safely and keep it off.

ReplyA healthy 70 yr.old life long compulsive overeating struggler who would like some help with my ongoing, exhausting uphill daily battle to get and keep my weight/size at my healthy and comfortable goal. (Are there different dosages possible or administered?)
ReplyAre clinical trials still underway in the United States? If so How would I get in to the trial?

I also was part of the same clinical trial. I come from a family with a history of obiesity. I was able to reduce my weight from 230 to 173 in about 7 months. I had to drop out of the study for personal reasons and over the past 2 years have gained most of the weight back. I would certainly use the drug as soon as its on the market! It is not a wonder drug but a great tool to lose help along with a healthy diet plan.
