WeightLoss4Idiots (FatLoss4Idiots) Review - Part 3

UPDATE: WeightLoss4Idiots changed their name to FatLoss4Idiots - May 05)

WeightLoss4Idiots - continued from Part 2.

So what's the verdict?

I was expecting to completely deride this diet - but there are parts of WeightLoss 4 Idiots that are... well... endearing. It's very simple - no complex science or wordy explanations. Just some simple rules and 11 days of basic meal plans.

It is quite balanced; lean proteins, good fats, and a good mix of fibrous and some starchy carbs. However the amount of protein may be too high for some.

Will You Lose Weight?

weightloss4idiots3.gif There can never be a one-size-fits-all weight loss program - understand that. Nutrition is an individual thing. But - for the average person who has a diet that is high in (processed) carbs and/or fatty foods - the immediate transition to Weight Loss For Idiots will bring results. 9 pounds every 11 days? Now that's unlikely - maybe for the first few weeks you may get something near these results (some will be water loss due to reduction in starchy carb). But that kind of weight loss cannot be sustained over a long period of time.

No calorie counting or carb counting? Not all of us can be trusted to eat short of satiation - and I have eaten a very similar diet to this (but eaten lots!) and have still gained weight. Calories do count - but if you can get a handle on what is right for you, you can forgo obsessive counting.

Not Sustainable?

Weight loss will occur - but it's a short/medium term thing. Eating a meal of just cottage cheese or just a chicken breast will probably not last for you. The meal plans are basic and some of the recipes even more basic - this ain't no eDiets - but for $27 you're getting what you pay for.

The Last Word

WeightLoss4Idiots turned out to be better than what I thought it would be. The diet is do-able, and you can get the whole gist of it in about 20 minutes. If you jump back into your old ways after a time of doing WeightLoss4Idiots - you will most likely put weight back on - but you can always make a choice to eat with similar patterns.

There is no doubt that WeightLoss4Idiots will be a passing fancy. It is an anonymous website. There is no support at all given, no message board, and no email support.

I have tried this diet and have been, so far, very successful. I haven't lost the "9 pounds in 11 days" but have lost 18 in the last 2 months. My daughter-in-law was jealous and decided to also try it. She's so far lost about 12 pounds and a whole pants size in the last month. We are both very excited about this diet and have been finding it easy to follow and have not been bored with it yet. We give it 2 thumbs up and highly recommend it to any one to at least give it a try. $27 for 3 months access? Doesn't hurt at all. I've wasted that and more on junk food.

This review was very helpful. I think I might be able to do this kind of thing without paying someone else $27. Common sense...

I have been on this diet for 2 months and have now lost 21 pounds, and alot of inches. This diet is great. I have people ask me everyday what I am doing and telling me how great I look. The weight is just melting off. Try it you will like it.

I'm glad you posted this information up. I'm gonna give it a whirl. Just curious what your results have been. I think it's suspicious that there is so little information about it anywhere and no real mention of how they developed the diet. Or am I missing something?

Well, I have just finished my first 14 day cycle and I have lost a total of 11 lbs. Considering that falls just short of a pound a day, I'm quite happy with that and even more content with the fact that I don't find this diet hard to stick to at all. Someone mentioned that there are weird meal combinations - I suppose that could be true - although it also could have to do with the foods chosen. I haven't really experienced that because I try and arrange my foods to suit the time of day that appeals to me, i.e. I have my omlette or fruit in the morning and early afternoon, my turkey and chicken or fish in the late afternoon and evening. It also makes it easier to take the food to work because fruit and eggs and cottage cheese are easy to take (as long as you have a fridge or a cool bag to put them in).

Betsy, I was surprised that there wasn't more about this diet too, because it really does work it seems. I have a feeling that there will start to be more about it once the population of success grows. The actual type of diet has been around for years - at least 8, because I was on a similar diet before. I think the important thing to remember is that yes, the diet does limit your carbs, but really, processed and refined carbs like those found in white breads, pastas, white rice, etc. have been proven to be bad for people anyway. Remember that all the fruit and vegetables have carbohydrates of their own - the good kind - so I don't feel that this is a dangerous depletion. Plus, I'm also getting more fiber than I have in the past, which is also good.

So, I say bring on the next two weeks and let's see how it goes. All the best and good luck.

Hi,
This diet is Fantastic! I have only been on it 6 days and today is my 6th day and I have lost 6 lbs. I am never hungry. As far as your fruit and veggie day Paige, I have decided that the way to make it more exiting is to put "I can't believe its not butter spray" with garlic on a baked potato and it is great on Frozen vegetables also Either Garlic spray butter if you like garlic spray or the plain spray both have Zero calories and 0 fat. (use as much as you want) As far as the fruit you could use Fat Free cool whip which is allowed....Anyway this diet is working for me where everything else has failed Anyone still on the fence about Weight loss 4 Idiot don' be it is GREAT and I couldn't be happier.
Happy Dieting!!!

I just joined the weightloss4idiots site. I am not obese or anything, but I have gained alot lately, b/c I'm in medical school and all my pants are getting small. I have received some rude comments as "have you been gaining weight?" I didn't check the scale...well rather now, I'm afraid to check nor do I want to know.

I joined the site cuz I need a fool proof "idiot" guide to dieting at this point...especially through those all nighters...regardless if you really lose 9 lbs in 11 days, I do not know. I hope I stick to it...but yea some support would be helpful. It just seems really really "plain" and alot of protein..I just am not used to that method of eating. I shelled out 27 bucks so by the time I visit family on the 22, I have lost atleast 10 lbs hopefully. Well I checked web blogs to see if this actually works, so did people joined in March lose weight? Comment please. thnx

Hi,
I am on day 2 of this diet and I signed up for it after reading all the positive reviews. Thank you to everyone that posted here!

I'm not sure if I missed the part where it says exactly how to cheat on your days off.

Also, i didn't see anything about artificial sweetners, are they allowed?

I tried locarb before this and only lost about 4=5 lbs in 2 weeks and then gave up after frustration. I am starting to think that my body is immune to dieting! I haven't weighed myself yet (it's only been 2 days anyway) . I am really curious to see my results........I will keep mine (hopefully they'll be good).

Hi, I am on day 9 and I have lost 5 lbs, my husband has lost 8 lbs. So far we really like this diet. I have a question for those of you who have been on this for a little while. I have trouble eating vegetables, so on the fruit and vegetable day, I only had my fruit and then corn and baked potatoes for the other two meals. I wonder if that will hurt my progress. Are baked potatoes and corn allowed on those days, the manual does read ANY vegetables. Also on the 3 days off, when we can eat anything, have you seen an increase in your weight. I don't want to blow it on those days and have to work on the same lbs all over again. I'm so glad I found this site, all of the comments make me feel so good about the diet, if anyone knows of any other discussion sites, please share. Thanks.

I started this diet on Monday APR 4, So far I havent lost any weight :-( . Its been only 4 days but I am finding it hard to stick to this diet as all foods are so plain. Can anyone give me recipes as to how they have cooked ground turkey or chicken? For the mixed vegetable can I eat french fries and 2 other vegetables? Has anyone used Ginger/Garlic/ Spices (like Cinnamon,Cloves,Bay Leaf)?

Please help, I think I am gonna fail again

Looking at Rainee's review, I am having the same problem. Mine is worst 'cos I am a vegeteraina and eating stir fried tofu/soy is taking its toll on me. Is anyone on the vegeterian diet? If so please help me with tofu recipes. I am not a big fan of cottage cheese. Has anyone done any alterations with cottage cheese, please let me know. Thanks

Hello again everyone!
I have been on this diet for almost 14 weeks and I have lost a grand total of 38 pounds and 27 inches off my entire body and I'm feeling great physically and emotionally. Everyone I know has commented on my weight loss telling me I look great which makes my confidence level and self esteem go sky high. My co-worker started the same time as me and has lost 29 pounds...so we are living proof that this diet really works. You just need motivation and will power of course and like I said in my last comment, doing this diet with someone makes it so much easier than doing it by yourself. You definitely need support. The only day that we find the hardest to do is the fruit and veggie day as well. I actually go to bed totally hungry but I manage through it. Im not tempeted to cheat though since I get those cheat days to look forward to. The fruit of course is no problem for me and I do love vegetables but having veggies all by themselves as 2 of my meals that day is very hard. I try to be creative to make them a little tastier like cooking them different ways...using the butter sprays like someone mentioned earlier. I go to a Chinese take-out and order just the mixed vegetables there. Those have a great flavor and its just enough to fill me up. I have also eaten large mixed salads with very little fat free dressing on that day and the weight is still coming off so I'm assuming thats okay too. I honestly don't know if corn and potatoes are okay to eat. I think corn is a grain, not a veggie and Ive always thought of potaoes as very starchy and too much will cause weight gain, but I suppose if you eat them in moderation it should be alright. Anyone, please let me know what you find out. That would make so much of a difference on F & V day if they are okay because both corn and potatoes are my favorite. As for the other days, yes they can get a little repetitive, but you just have to be creative on how you prepare each item so you don't get bored and tempted to cheat.
Someone also asked if anyone gains weight on the cheat days. Honestly, I gain about 2 to 3 pounds back but thats because I dont drink my water on those days like I should. Once I start the diet again, I will lose my extra water weight the first few days. I will just say that on your cheat days, don't overdo it with very fattening foods. Drink your water and eat sensibly and you should be okay.

I would love it if you guys would email me so we can be support for each other though this diet. The more the better. My email address is CaliGyrl72@aol.com
Everyone, good luck with your dieting and like me, you will be so glad you tried WL4I because it really does work!!

Hi!
I agree with Raj here, I have tried the WL4I for vegetarians and there does not seem to be many options for the 11 day menu, it limits you to Tofu or Soy. Maybe I just did not do it right but if anyone has followed the vegetarian version of WL4I Please do write. I would love to know new recipes. Thanks

Hi Guys! WL4I is a godsend! I guess I am an idiot, lol, because I am one of those people who has tried EVERYTHING and nothing has worked as well and as quickly as this diet. I actually love the combinations of food and I guess I stick with it a little more strictly than I see from some of the previous posts. I grill my turkey into turkey burgers on my George Foreman and as far as the cheat days, it's so funny b/c you think that after doing 11 days you'll be dying to cheat but come cheat day, I don't want all the things I thought I'd be craving. I don't go crazy on cheat day and I jot down all my calories during those days. For 7 days on WL4I, you will average around 818 calories...some may say that's not enough, but I honestly am not hungry, feel fine and am dropping pounds like crazy....I've lost 15 in under a month and my co-worker is doing it with me and she's lost about 6(although she does cheat some, lol), but she's lost a lot of inches. So, if you stick with it and have an optimistic attitude it will work...I'm excited for the first time in a long time about summer coming. I save the diets so I can use them later if I choose not to renew. As far as the Fruit and Veggie day, I love fruit so that's not a problem, veggies are a little harder and corn is considered a starch as well as sweet peas. I wouldn't eat French Fries or a baked potato. I wish all of you much luck and success!
P.S. I turned my mother onto the diet, she just started this week, I'll keep you posted on how she does.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the 411. Its now my third day on the diet and I have had a bit of ice cream, yea I know I cheated. I was upset afterwards but, during it felt like heaven. The first 2 days I was like sticking to the diet like crazy. But, I didn't know you can use Molly McButter or spray on butter that's 0 cal. I didn't even know that existed. I am not a vegetarian and I don't know but I heard that some people like to add vegetables to tofu and some soy sauce. I don't think that's allowable condiment though. I know that it says diet drinks are ok, but I have been going through 2 diet cokes a day and I dunno if that's healthy with all the sodium. I guess I am craving sugar/carbs since its a deceptive form and, since its allowed. I wish they would have a help person that would email us from the site. Anyways, I don't have a scale, but will check on the 23rd back home. For some reason, the diet doesn't really feel like a diet cuz I am not hungry!!! I never eat 4 meals a day and sometimes I don't even want the 4th meal and I did this today, but maybe its cuz of the ice cream. Basically, I feel like I'm gaining weight, but i'm not overeating, I just eat until I'm satisfied but leave room left over. I dunno if I am supposed to feel like I'm not dieting. Am I really losing pounds like this? Supposedly the 4th meal is required to boost your metabolism. I need some variety cuz i'm getting sick of all this same old same old...everyday is scrabled eggs and ketchup on my schedule with chicken/salad and then I realized...I chose pastrami, but don't have any. this is a caribbean isladn and sooo small you would think they have it but they don't. you guys think that I could sub that for like turkey or ham? Please write more advice. Its nice to know that this thing works and I will have to discipline myself and stick with the program, but honestly...all the cooking involved. Anywhoo, please gimme the 411. Thanks yall!!!

Hi Everyone, I just came upon this site by accident when I was looking for additional information on WL4I. I am considering joining the programme and well, from what I can see, everyone seems to love it!
I am one of those *well-padded* people and have been struggling with my weight since forever . I live in the U.K. so am not sure about this spray butter stuff? Can anyone enlighten me? Also I drink loads of water and drink a cup of coffee daily with splenda. Are we allowed to use artificial sweetners in this diet?
I will sign up either today or tomorrow, because I am ready!! . If we can be support for one another, that would be fabby! Please e-mail me at MzCleverClogz@AOL.com. I would very much like to stay in touch. Thanks :).

Angela, I wouldn't eat ham. Pork is probably the worst food you can eat for trying to lose weight besides junk food. And I wouldn't drink Diet Coke either. Just because it is allowed, doesn't mean it is good for you. Drink orange or apple juice with soda water instead. For vegetables, raw vegetables are better for you than cooked vegetables. Some good raw vegetables are carrots, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, celery, peppers (orange are the tastiest), and spinach leafs.

Alyssia

Nico,
The spray butter people are talking about is this spray that tastes like butter but has no calories or fat. It makes some difference in taste but you can certainly live w/o it.

I also am curious about using splenda but can't seem to find any answers. My guess is that it's ok since it has no calories (or very few).

Today is my fruit and veggie day and I am starving! Up until this point I have been ok, not feeling to hungry but this day is not great. I started on April 3 adn today is day 6 for me. I have no idea if I lost anything since I'm down in North Carolina for a week and there is no scale here. Usually I weigh myself a billion times a day so this is probably better. I hope this works b/c I am trying to lose the last 10lbs (about 4 kg) of the baby weight that I cant seem to shed. I was trying locarb before this but I think it lost it's magic on me (not that it ever was magical for me). I also got tired of eating eggs, meat and cheese.

Well, please post your results as you start your diet....I am curious to see how people do on this! I'll post my results when I get home sometime this week!

Well, as promised, here's my last update. As of 21 days of being on the WL4I diet I have lost 15.5 pounds. (For you in the UK that's 1 stone + 1.5 pounds).

I must admit that I do get confused when I read about some people having such a hard time with the diet and someone mentioned 'all the cooking'. My life! As I said before, I can't honestly think of an easier diet to follow than this unless it came with a chef to cook it all for you. YES it can be repetitious and YES I get sick to death of chicken, but when I think of the difference in what I'm losing compared to something like Weight Watchers, that chicken looks better all the time. And please don't think that I'm cheating - this diet is like a religion to me because it seems to work and I'm just desperate to finally get to my goal and stop all this nonsense.

As for people who want recommendations, I can only offer things based on what I have tried. For one, I certainly wouldn't eat french fries! Even if you bake them in the oven it's still potato and those are VERY starchy vegetables. As one person said, I would eat those in serious moderation or not at all. Other veggies I have opted to stay away from are all the starchy ones because I know that my body doesn't burn off excess carbs well. They are: carrots, peas, squash and corn. As for the turkey.. well I tend to make mine all chunked up in a pan with onion and bell pepper, some cayenne pepper and a little Mrs Dash. Sometimes I use Jamaican Wild Fire sauce or a little ketchup and mustard. I also have omlettes on this particular menu so I divide the turkey and use some of it in my omlette with mushrooms. I just cook the whole batch at once and put it in the fridge. That way it's done and I just have to nuke it. Quite honestly, I get home at 5:00pm, I make my dinner for that night, my 3 meals for the next day and i'm done at like 6:15pm so I think that's awesome.

Keep up the good work!

Ali, your results are great! Do you have a lot more to lose? I find that I never lose as much as it says I should in the beginning of any diet.......I wasn't nearly as successful on Atkins as most people I know. I only want to lose about 10lbs so maybe the less weight you have, the harder it is to lose? I dont know.....maybe my body is tired of trying different diets for 15yrs!

I am on day 7 and I feel great.....this may be my favorite diet so far. Of course I have no idea if I lost anything since I don't have a scale nearby....I am anxious to get home and weigh myself. Hope I won't be disappointed! Yesterday was fruit and veggie day and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.......not great, but not awful. Definitely not my favorite day though!
How do you handle cheat days? I'm afraid to eat too much b/c I don't want to gain all the weight back in 3 days.

I enjoyed reading your posts..........why did you live in England? I have such a hard time understanding the Brits! LOL My husband has to translate for me.

Well, looking fwd to seeing more of your results....you and other people on here are the reason why I signed up for WL4I!! These posts are very motivational even though I did read a few negative ones.

Hi everyone

Ok so I bit the bullet and paid my 27 dollars . It comes to about £15.00, on my end. I went through the site quickly last night and began today.

I have to say that from the menu they chose for me, a bit repetitious, but extrememly workable! I like most if not all the foods chosen, so will find this fairly easy to follow.

The water part is ok although I have to go to the loo an awful lot more then usual LOL. God help me, I may have to have a toilet strapped to my backside! BUT, in saying that, no worries as I drink mostly water, usually, short of tea and coffee. I don't drink sodas as I am not too keen on them.

Now am going to assume you can use any spices to flavour your meals? For my ground turkey, I cooked it with red onions, tomatoes and red peppers. Then I added pepper, garlic powder, cumin and chili powder. After I finished I added a touch of ketchup so it was more moist and VOUILLA! It was fabby!

That is my update for my first day, and one can hope that this diet will go well. I don't live in England, Alyssa, rather, I live in Scotland:). And thanks for the info on the spray butter stuff, much appreciated!

I'll post again with another update. Thanks everyone for being so friendly and gracious.

Hey,
Thank you for all the useful information; i have been finding it difficult to find anything that explains this diet in more detail. I am hesitant to spend $27 on something so secretive.

I was on the south beach diet and lost 10lbs. I gained it back and am having difficulty jump starting my system again. So this diet sounds very tempting to me and for the most part the feedback from everyone is positive.

I am going to try the diet without purchasing the handbook and see if i get any results, if so i will put out the bucks.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me, what condiments are allowed and not allowed on this diet.
Thanx

HI- I just started this today and must say that so far have not been hungry at all. I made spinach frittata this morning and had 2 roast beef sandwiches for my 2nd and 3rd meal. Dinner is ham with pinapples. Hope this works! If we could exchange recipe ideas that would be helpfull!

Hi everyone!
I just started this diet today and am very pleased to actually find some other people out there (and hear about their great results!!).
I am hoping to lose about 7 kgs (or about 15 lbs), has anyone else found this diet effective if you have a healthy BMI but just want to fit into your cute jeans again??
I tried Atkins and it worked (i'll give it that) but making the transition back to normal foods was very difficult and I ended up gaining it all back and then some! I am hoping this diet will be easier to transition from to a healthy life long eating plan!
Thanks for any information!

Hiya,

Second day and so far so good...YAY! I like this diet a lot as I don't feel hungry.

One thing I actually mucked up on was the drinking 8 glasses a day thing. Well, I did drink 8 glasses and thought "Wait a minute, what is a glass of water, measurement wize?". Well a glass is equal to 8 oz and instead of drinking 8 of that amount, I ended up drinking the equivelent of 16 8 oz glasses as each glass I drank from could hold 16 oz.....oooops! So I must say I overdid it a tad bit. Now today, I will drink the correct amount and may even make it 10 glasses.

I may be the only ding-bat who did this, but just in case I am not, I cleared it all up for you!

Just thought I'd pop in to see if there were anymore results/comments and I'm always floored by the influx with almost every new day. This is fantastic! I almost wish there was a separate chat section for our little WL4I family!

Anyways - Nico, you're not a dingbat :) It was an honest mistake and it's not like it will hurt you. If anything it will just..er.. flush you out :) I must admit that I haven't read the 'rules' since the very beginning but I thought it was 10 8oz glasses of water a day anyway? I do admit that I have the same problem as Nico though.. I seem to live in the bathroom at work. I even threatened to move my desk in there the first week! It has tapered off some now, though, and I find that drinking all of the water is easier for me to tolerate. As a side note.. (and not meant as a plug) but the way I ensure to get the recommended amount of water is by buying the "Sam's Choice" flavored water from Wal*Mart. The bottles are 4 8oz servings of water each and there's many flavors (Strawberry, Cherry, Peach, Kiwi/strawberry, etc.) I drink 2 a day. There's absolutely 0 grams of everything and they taste great! I then drink one bottle of Fruit2O which is also 0 grams of everything and gives me the last 2 servings of water I need for the day. I think the flavored water tastes better than the plain but just a suggestion :) (The diet Arizona ice tea is great too!)

Alyssia.. it's a pleasure. I'm sure that you'll lose those pesky 10 will come off with no problem. I can, however, confirm that the closer you are to your goal weight the harder it is for it to come off. I, myself, have about 115 pounds to lose, which will get me just above 100 lbs. That is an awful lot of weight, I know, but funny enough, I seem to carry it all over the place so people never expect that I weigh what I do. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big girl, but somehow I've even maintained a waistline through all this so I feel pretty grateful on that score. I know I have a ways to go but I figure that if I can do this, perhaps I can be helpful to others who are having some difficulty. Eventually I'll get a scanner and do a before/after shot so if anyone is in doubt they can ask and I'll email them. (That's a ways off for now..)

I was in England because my husband, whom I'm no longer with, lived there. He was finishing school so I opted to move there. It's never my intention to be insulting, so let's suffice it to say that my sense of humor didn't go down well, nor did my outgoingness, it was very expensive and it just wasn't my cup of tea. :) But, it's like Dorothy says.. "There's no place like home."

Lastly, I just wanted to give some info about the cheat days.. I've only had one lot so far and I have the others this weekend. Basically I tried to keep to the program slightly by eating 4 meals and drinking my water. I tended to have oatmeal and fruit but I also went out for dinner 2 nights of the 3. I had steamed shrimp and a salad for one meal out and the other I had a mini filet of steak with 6 shrimp and steamed veggies. The last night I had chicken nuggets as a treat (the frozen kind - not fast food). I also had 3 glasses of wine in total. I know it doesn't seem like much of a cheat but I too was afraid of gaining weight back. But, I did enjoy it so I don't feel deprived at all. I think a LITTLE of what you LIKE is the key. Just don't go nuts. :)

Keep going all. It's worth it in the end. All the best!

Hi all,

I wanted to lose 10 to 15lbs and thought about Atkins but the no fruit was a real turn off. I ended up trying this - this is only my 2nd day and i really like that it's easy to follow.

I'm glad to see that there are others out there who have succeeded with the diet. Thanks. I agree about the water its like i have to go every 10 mins and i seem to be tired of eggs already. I'm looking forward to the fruit salad!!

I'll keep you posted.
