WeightLoss4Idiots (FatLoss4Idiots) Review - Part 2
UPDATE: WeightLoss4Idiots changed their name to FatLoss4Idiots - May 05)
WeightLoss4Idiots blog - continued from Part I. Here I take a look at the meal plans.
The Meal Plan
After the 11 days you are allowed 3 days of cheat meals (basically eat whatever you want).
The meal plans are very simplistic. Here is the recipe for the "chicken" meal:
Boneless and skinless. To be honest, eating a single chicken breast by itself is not the most appetizing of meals! You may prepare chicken in any way you like (such as baked, grilled, broiled, etc). You may use Barbecue Sauce if you like. You may also use any other condiments or seasonings mentioned in the diet rules.
Carbs, Proteins, and Fats
WeightLoss4Idiots is not low-carb, or necessarily low-fat. In fact it's indescribable. Each day the meals seem to rotate e.g. Day 1: 1 carb meal, 2 protein meals, 1 low-carb+protein meal Day 2: 1 carb meal, protein meal, protein+carb meal, protein mealThere are no portion restrictions. No calorie limits. Then again with nothing but "cottage cheese" for a meal - it's kind of hard to overeat.
What's the first thing that stands out to me? There appear to be very few starchy carbs at all (this is things like breads, potatoes, pasta, grains, etc). There is the occasional oatmeal and pasta.
Fats? Every day there are sources of mono and poly-unsaturated fats - mixed nuts, cottage cheese. Saturated fats will come from eggs and the chicken breast.
Alcohol
Only 1 glass of wine (optional) is allowed per day.Vegetarian Options
WeightLoss4Idiots has vegetarian meal plans. If you choose this, then soy products (soy chicken, soy beef, etc) will be substituted for their meat counterparts. There also seems to be a much higher proportion of nuts (unsalted peanuts, macadamias, walnuts).Reference WeightLoss4Idiots.com
Carry on to Part 3.
Does anyone know if it is possible to contact anyone from the weight loss for idiots website? email, phone...
ReplyBecky, I noticed the WL4I site specifies that there is no support included in the program. However the domain name is registered to this email: domain@weightloss4idiots.com
ReplyI went to visit my daughter in St. Louis a few weeks ago. I was a little concerned how I was going to do on my life changing eating plan, ie. low calorie "diet". When I got into the car at the airport she asked me if I wanted some Swedish Fish...I KNEW I was going to be in trouble. I just wasn't that strong mentally yet about saying no, no, no, no, etc. Her house was filled with all kinds of goodies. I went online looking for info about Weight Watchers Core Plan as she suggested and under the key words came up a comparison of diets and the idiot diet came up with four stars. Well today is day 9 and I have lost what I consider some serious weight, approx. 8-9 pounds. I do not feel deprived doing this. I really don't see it as "unhealthy" either...you can't really live like this.... which is the main drawback. I must learn to eat normal, must learn to say no and not feel like the world is caving in. But all in all, I would recommend this eating plan to jump start you in changing your weight. Miriam
ReplyHi everyone. I am on my third set of 11 days, just completed my 3 cheat days yesterday. I am down 15.2 lbs. and just love the diet. I find it very easy to follow and in fact can stick to something like this where I am told what I have to eat every day, rather than make choices as you do at Weight Watchers. I am not hungry and I walk every day. I gave up drinking pop and eating potato chips which was what I was practically living on before! I know there is a lot of controversy on some other sites about this diet but I am eating more healthy now than I ever did, so I plan on sticking to it. I have a LOT of weight to lose and was desperate when I found this diet. I wish everyone luck in their weight loss plan whatever it might be!
ReplyWeightLoss4Idiots ad appears very unrealistic. The human body does not lose weight in the proportions advertised. I do not know of any one who has lost weight in the advertised proportions except via surgery to remove body tissue (during practice as registered dietitian 25 years).
ReplyWe can continue to try to dream off the weight.
Thanks for the info. I think I'll save my $27 The web lacks good reviews of this diet.
ReplyI've been on diet for 2/11day sessions and have lost 12lbs this is the easist diet to follow. If any one on this diet has some hints to losing lbs please contact me,or any meal plans that have worked for you. Toni
ReplyWell Holly and Rob, all I can suggest is that you check out the forum Jim HAD to start because of the interest in this diet. http://forum.diet-blog.com/index.php. If those aren't enough good "web reviews" for you then I don't know what to suggest.
It's one thing to try something and give an opinion based on your personal results, but to harshly condemn something without even trying it is wrong. Sure, I was skeptical at first - my mother always taught me that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. The key word there being usually and this time the saying didn't hold true.
I, personally, lost 16.5 lbs in 21 days on this diet before I even started to exercise. And no, it isn't "water weight" because I'm consuming over 80oz of water PER DAY! Not good enough? Well another WL4I dieter has been on the program for 3.5 months and lost 41 lbs. Still water weight? I don't think so. No pills, no gimmicks, no flying to foreign countries to get the food. It's good ole fashioned turkey, chicken, fish, tuna, eggs, cottage cheese, fruits, vegetables, nuts and even the occasional hotdog, sandwich, hamburger and fat free Cool Whip thrown in for good measure. Top that off with 80 oz of water everyday and I can't really imagine a better diet.
It is true that most people will probably not lose 9lbs EVERY 11 days - however, for someone who follows the diet properly it is pretty close to the mean average unless they have very little weight to lose. But you know what? It's good enough for me.
So I say, either go ahead and pay your $30 every month for over the counter diet pills that don't work, OR pay a weekly fee to Weight Watchers while you watch the pounds come off in halves for months - OR bite the bullet and pay $27 - a fee you'll never have to pay again if you print off the menus (of which you can generate AS MANY as you want). Either way it's your choice. I'm just over the moon that I'll be watching the pounds whittle away by the day and be laughing all the way to the nearest clothing store.

Try it.It works.
Hi! I have been on this idot diet for just 3 days and have not lost any weight yet. The food is so simple to prepare, (open a carton of cottage cheese, cook up a chicken breast??!!) and I don't mind eating the food. I am about 100 pounds overweight and really need to lose this weight. I hope this works. I will have to see what happens after the first 11 days.
ReplyHi, I just want to know if you can eat the Hamburger with any type of bread or with no bread at all?

I have been on this diet for 4 days now and feel 100 percent better than I did. I haven't weighed myself yet and am feeling a bit weak/hungry but, am sticking to it. I plan on weighing myself tomorrow so, I will post my weight then.
ReplyI started this diet in late July -- did one round and lost 7 lbs. Took 4 days off and am having a rouugh time on my second round -- I will stick to it though (already day 5) but have day tomorrow where I know I will have to cheat on dinner, anyone cheated on it and still gotten results
ReplyMagda, have also done one round, lost 5 lbs but am having trouble on my second round and not feeling well either. My diet used to consist of a lot of fruits and vegetables but now mostly meats. I don't think that my body is liking this change.
ReplyEljai,
I am also not liking all of the meats -- I think I will stick it through day 11 of this round (also not feeling well) and take 4 days off next time and start again a third phase if I can get 15 lbs off total that would be great I want to lose 25 by Decemeber.
ReplyAnyone stray from the diet a bit for a day and still get results. I am just wondering as I hope 10 days are not ruined by one bad meal. Thanks for the input
