Prison Diet
Martha Stewart's release from prison after 5 months has prompted discussion of prison diets.
This from the Swift Report:
From Martha Stewart to Leah Fastow and Matthew Hale, a growing number of overweight celebs are using their time behind bars to shed unwanted pounds and inches. But keeping the pounds off post-incarceration isn’t easy. Prison nutritionists caution that an estimated 67% of inmates regain most of their lost weight after their sentences end.
So what is the secret to the prison diet?
"Try to follow a very regimented meal plan, allowing the same 30 minutes each day for lunch and dinner." And if you can’t make your meal time? "Too bad. You go hungry."

I would like to say the food in prison is pretty awful--not very appetizing to look at or taste! I work in a prison and the food there is very high carbs so you don't loose weight by eating it, the secret is you loose the weight beause you cannot eat it.
ReplyWhat's next, The Martha Stewart Prison Diet?
Does she make money on every single facet of her life? My guess is absolutely. Watch for a Prison Diet book. I feel it.
ReplyI'm guessing you'd lose weight on that stuff too. I couldn't eat it, that's for sure. Gluey casseroles and overcooked veggies are not what I'd consider exactly delicious. A lot of people that go to prison have all sorts of free time and work out, too. So maybe that's how they lose weight. And I'm with Denise...I'm waiting for Martha's "Prison Diet Cookbook", LOL.
Replyso u lose weight becuz ur not eating that much, can u also lose weight if u drink less liquids in general like water, juice, milk stuff like that
ReplyTry to follow a very regimented meal plan, allowing the same 30 minutes each day for lunch and dinner
ReplyNo, don't limit water. Drink all natural juices (the label for ingredients will say 'apple juice' and that's it.) and if you don't have that option- contain your fluids to water and drink 64oz. of water each day if possible. Those foods you eat probably have alot of sodium, so, you are more than likely retaining water. Working out will also work off all the carbs and saturated fats. .work work work. and yes. .a prison diet book is coming. soon.
ReplyFood in prison should be the central focus of a carefully constructed incentive program whose purpose is to positively influence inmate behavior. No more threats of being sent to solitary confinement; rather, the promise of being moved up to roast beef, mashed potatoes, fried okra, turnip greens, squash casserole, cornbread, sliced red tomatoes with mayonnaise, rolls, iced tea and peach cobbler.
ReplyPrepare to lose more money thaN weight on LA Weight loss.
ReplyI was also sucked in during the initial "feel good" phase. I still thought $1500.00 was an insane amount of money, but I was determined like never before. Guarenteed?!/! How can you turn that down. I pay the extra 100 some odd $$ for the Guarantee. Day three, the "LA LITES" that are "OPTIONAL", are actually "REQUIRED" for the guarentee to work. Another $1500.00 for snacks I say? I don't have that, I have to reevaluate this I say. Then low and behold, I find LA Weight loss products on Ebay. Exactly the same poducts, box flavors EVERYTHING for 1/3 the cost including shipping!!! I read through all my contract, the manual, recheck the fine print, NOWHERE does it say you Have to purchase the LA Lites on the premises. Nowhere does it say your "guarentee will be null and void. GUESS WHAT?????? IT IS!!!!!!!! Too be continued I need to breath!!!
To Dorothy,
ReplyAll is not lost... I just happen to have the "Enrollment Agreement and Service Guarantee" contract in front of me. Be sure you read it completely and don't listen to what they tell you at the "LA Weight Loss" store. The specific wording in the contract states clearly in two places 1- "E. Consume L A Lites® as directed by the company" and 2- "However, you must CONSUME the L A Lites® to qualify for this service guarantee." It does not say you have to buy the product from your L A Weight loss center. Where you buy the product is your choice. They are very high pressure, but I'm sure you could take them to task on this point. If you can prove you stuck to their product they must honor the guarantee.
I was just wondering. Has anybody been able to find out the ingredients in the bars to then find something cheaper that still fights the cravings and helps curb your appetite?
ReplyI was told at the LA center that anyone that buys the products off e-bay can and will be prosecuted. Funny, it doesn't say that anywhere in the contract. Plus, this is America where we have a free enterprise system that you can buy or sell ANYTHING you want!
Now that I have seen all of these blogs, I will give the pushy person at the clinic a piece of my mind.
I have been on the program for just 1 week and first lost 4 lbs from just drinking that juice stuff for the first 2 days then my weight went back up 2 lbs, so really lost 2 lbs so far. I eat exactly what is on the pamphlet and now they said that the lender's bagels, banana's or pears should not be eaten everyday since they are higher in sugar.....????whatever, then put alittle freakin dot next to them!
Anyway, anyone that would know where to buy bars that are comparable to LA lites, let me know.
Thank you to all. At 48 I have been there done that and sure didn't want to make another mistake. I am going to cancel my appointment for this afternoon. I will just be smart and stop doing what I have been doing. Start my own portion control, cut out sugar, cut out bad carbs, cut out fat, and work my buns off. All the doctors say that is the best way and there is not a magic solution. The definition of nutz is: Doing the same thing every day and expecting a different result! Good Luck to all as I know your pain. My heart and prayers are with you. Maybe if I don't consider it a diet, but a change in life style I will have new results!
