LA Weight Loss Exposed
LA Weight Loss are a center-based weight loss program. The potential client comes in for their free assessment, gets weighed, and has a program provided for them. Motives behind LA Weight Loss have been questioned after the company was fined $100,000 (in 2002) for using false claims.
LA Weight Loss Clinics
LA Weight Loss have a number of clinics worldwide. Many feel that it is an expensive program - particularly if finance options are chosen (rather than cash). The diet plan is customized to include appropriate portions of Proteins, Vegetables, Fruits, Starches, Fats, Dairy and LA Lites. LA Lites are soy-protein bars - which form a central part of the program. When purchased in bulk the cost of the bars is not insignificant.
LA at Home

The LA at Home program consists of a Starter Kit - that is delivered to your door. Once the starter kit has been received - the program can begin.
The Program Diary forms the central part of LA at Home. This on-line diary allows all meals and beverages to be recorded, along with weight tracking, exercise log, and thoughts and feelings about the days eating. The site also allows access to a recipe section, and the ability to join a support group by way of on-line forums.
NOTE: It appears the LA at Home program is no longer operational (Nov 2007).
The cost of $219 includes customized meal programs, 4 weeks of LA Nutritional Bars, and samples of best-selling products.
UPDATE: Many commenters have suggested sourcing the LA Lites at discount from eBay.

La Weight Loss is not a scam. The problem with everyone blogging on this website is they are looking for excuses for not wanting to commit to losing the weight. The program is sound, healthy and it works. But, for some reason people have so many fears surrounding getting to their goal weight or failing and or succeeding that they devise a diversion like "complaining" about a company because of their own inadequicies. Stop complaining and lose the weight. Or Don't lose the weight but stop blaming the program, it isn't the program, its YOU and your own fears!

LA weight loss has worked for me, have been getting bored with my food program. The program that I am on, calls for 2 protein (4-6oz), 3 vegtables, 2 fruit, 1 fat, 1 dairy, LA bars twice a day. When I ran out of the bars I did find that I was hungrier than when I was using the bars. The program teaches you what we all know. Healthy choice in the correct food groups.
ReplyI go to La Weightloss in Northern Calif. and the women are all very sweet. They give the right information, but what the customer does with that information is their deal. Is the customer going to follow the plan or not? I have lost 30pds on the program.
It is cheaper in the long run than any other plan. I joined when it cost $3.00 per week. I did buy the bars in bulk, but it lasts forever. My kids even love them. I figure they are much healthier than a candy bar, and have good protein. You see, FAT IS CHEAP! Yes, these might cost a bit more, but they lasted me well over a year. How much money do we spend on Latte's or some kind of unhealthy food. They dont give the nutrition these give.
I need to be accountable to someone 3x a week. If I slip up it only takes a day to get back on track rather than a whole week. For me that is key!
Answer this question- How bad do you want it? Is the desire to rid weight stronger than the desire to eat that huge hamburger and fries?
ReplyHi,
ReplyIs it true that YOU DO NOT need to buy the bars in order to do the program, I went for a consult and they did not push the bars at me but they did say that in the new year that you will need to buy them.
I am confused as to what to do, I want to join the program but I do not want to buy the bars as a supplement....
Anyboby in New Brunswick, Canada on the program that feel the same way?
you do have to buy the bars, but just tell them you are allergic to soy and whey and then you are not medically eligible and they cannot make you buy the bars.
Replyi my name is shirley i'am over weight and i need help to loss it but i have no money and i need help can you guy hepl me out to buy the stuff i am a poor person i just can do this by my self can you people send me the think i need i live in winnipeg manitoba canada suit 8-327 edison ave R2G-0L9 PLEASE AND THANK YOU SHIRLEY
ReplyI have been on the program for 3 weeks now and have lost 8 pounds. I flat out told them i could not afford the bars i had one women be rathr pushy with me about it but when i went in for my next visit i told the counsler again and there have been no issues since. my roomate who is also doing this with me is on a limited income and they did not push her at all and just said if you decide you want the la lites we have them here. So both our plans were adjust to be with out the bars.
i think it is just depends on your center on how you are treated. I am in Ottawa, ontario
ReplyI've been on LA Weight Loss since the beginning of August and have lost 25 lbs. I definitely could have lost much more by now if I would've been following the plan closer. I think people see it as an expensive program because it's so much money up front but look at it in the long run. Look at how much you'll save by not eating so much junk food :) I'm at the center in Minnesota and they do not require us to purchase the bars. I do, but I don't eat two a day most days. It's nice to have something (the bars) that's good for "on the go". Did you guys know about the rebate? You get 1/2 of your money back if you stay at your goal weight for a year! It's awesome. My Aunt is my inspiration, she lost over 60 lbs in less than 7 months, and she is keeping it off. She never used the bars either, and she has already gotten 1/4 of her money back (it comes 1/4 after 6 months, and 1/4 after 1 year). So far, I really enjoy the plan and I like that they have you on a BALANCED diet plan. I feel so much healthier and 25 lbs thinner feels wonderful :) The accountability of the program (require twice a week one on one counceling) is the key for me. I couldn't do it without the accountability. You just gotta find what works for you.
ReplyYou do not have to use the bars at all to be successful on the la weightloss program. Someone mention just a few blogs before the if you say you are allergic to soy that is a medical condition that allows you not to use the bars. Some other conditions are kidney conditions, diabetes (oral or insulin), some heart conditions also will not allow use of the lites. Instead of the bars they will change your menu plan to a higher caloric intake to compensate for not having the bars. but the sugar content is still not as high as having the bars. so you will actually lose faster not using the bars. you just need to be consistent everyday on the plan.
ReplyI'm really glad I found this blog as I was seriously thinking of giving LAWL a try. I need the discipline to stay on something but feel that anyone can lose the weight without having to resort to expensive "plans and programs." I did go to a nutritionist who wrote up a plan just for me, and I did keep to it and I did lose weight. I did join a health club and did go for a while. It's all a matter of committing to something and keeping to it, whether it be self-motivated, or through a company, who let's face it, is out to make money. Thanks again for the many perspectives of LAWL that I've read here. I'm going to knuckle down and do it myself.
Good luck to all of you!
ReplyI signed up for L.A. Weightloss a few months ago and I love it. Yes, it's expensive but I haven't had any problems losing the weight and to me it's just worth it. What is a few hundred dollars to be healthier and happier? A lot of people spend double or triple that amount on a weight loss surgery when all they have to do is follow the plan.
ReplyI am so happy I read this post before I started the program. I already paid my money down and I will be making payments, but now I'm ready for the scams. I got a great deal only $3/week and I don't have too much weight to lose 30+ lbs. But my counselor is already acting pushy, and she knows I dont have the money. There is another very nice counselor who gave me extra LA lites to try that weren't in the sample pack. I like her and will be requesting to meet with her from now on. I sure hope my commission money goes to the nice counselor and not the pushy one.
I just made a few bids on ebay too! Thanks a lot everyone!
ReplyDo you really want to loose weight? Are you excited about the possibilities of LA Weighloss? The commercials look appealing, right?
How I wish I could have found this site before I joined!
LA Weighloss seemed so promising! I dropped 40 pounds, which is great! However, I didn't meet my goal before the deadline. I either needed to pay more or not get a refund. That was SO demotivating!
I joined LA Weighloss last spring. I knew it was going to be expensive, but they promised personalized service. A meal plan geared toward me, while teaching me what to eat and when.
During my second week, I knew I was on my own. They weighed me and skimmed over my journal. One time in 6 months did they "teach me" what to eat. Don't eat salmon two nights in a row....
My mom lives 600 miles away. I was so excited about the possibilities, that she joined the week after I did. We both had a very similar experience.
The meal plan is simple: Two servings of bread, 3 servings of fruit, 3 servings of veggies, 2 protein sources (meat, fish, eggs, peanut butter), 1 dairy and 1 fat (oil) per day. 64 ozs water, 1/2 hour of exercise and two of their bars and voila. It's no secret. All of who want to loose weight know the recipe: Eat a balanced diet, drink water and exercise.
LA Weightloss and their inattentive, incentive hungry staff will not change your life. You can do it with out them. I promise!
ReplyI've read a lot of the blogs and I have to agree with the ones that say if you really want to loose the weight, than you have to pay. It is expensive, but you have to look at what you get for the price. If it was free, would you even have incentive to loose, if you pay for something your more apt to get what you pay for or work harder for your results. I've been on LA since mid July and I've lost 42lbs. I couldn't be more happier. It was worth every penny. There are several good things about the plan. 1) you eat real food, not pre-packed foods, other than the bars and if you can be strong, you don't even have to do those. 2) accountability for what you eat and how you exercise and exercise was even optional, but it helps 3) you learn portion control, there are so many biggie sizes out there that are sometimes up to 6 times more than what you should have and 4) you get 1/2 your money back if you keep it off for a year - now that's incentive, cause you know how expensive it is and finally 5)what a wonderful feeling when you put on your old clothes and they fall off, and then when you get noticed cause you look so great and it shows in your attitude. I'm glad I spent the money I didn't have - now when my husband comes back from being deployed, he will come home to the wife he married. Not the miserable heavy person that was taking over. If you try it good luck!!! If you don't - I hope you find something that works for you - life is to short not to be happy!!!
ReplyI went in to check out a center in New Brunswick today. I've been hearing ads on the radio for months since they finally opened here, so I thought why not? I couldn't even BELIEVE the sales pitch that I got, costs in the thousands for what looked to be a little binder of information you could easily find online, and that was without even mentioning the supplements, bars etc...which have a HUGE display in the office, and on the little tour, we spent more time there than anywhere. The counsellor was not the least bit helpful, and when I asked for reading material I could take home, she had nothing to offer - but said I could stay in the little office and browse through a book of success stories. When she showed me the cost, I told her that I definitely wasn't spending that kind of money without thinking about it a bit first, and talking it over with my husband. She was snotty when I asked how their payment plans worked (essentially, they don't have payment plans - you pay it all upfront or you get financed at ridiculous interest rates). When I asked about a refund policy, she acted like I had somehow offended her, and when I asked more questions about it, she had to go find someone else to answer them.
Here's what I walked away with today. Don't go into one of their centers unless you have a lot of money to spend on your weight loss goals. Perhaps this program works, perhaps it doesn't...but it is EXPENSIVE, and I'm not sure it's worth the cost. I wish I had found this site before, I wouldn't have bothered going in.
Anywho, I'm glad to hear their are lots of success stories, but it's me who has to do all the work, and I can do it for cheaper than that I am sure.

I too was a customer of L.A. weight loss. I did loose 50 pounds in 4 months and then hit a plateau. I never got over the hump because it seemed like everytime I walked into a center they had completely overhauled their staff. For as much as I paid for the program and snacks I felt like the least that I deserved was a familiar face. For me, it was embarassing enough to weigh in three times a week infront of a stranger and then when I had a problem I had to talk to someone who did not know my case history. Of course you could also ask everyone in the center the same question and get ten different answers. The diet became a burden both emotionally and finacially.
ReplyHi there everyone,
Question:
For those of you that have used the program WITHOUT the supplements - what do you use in place of the bars & specifically the TakeOff drink?
Thnx.
ReplyHi,
I know this diet works because I have done it. I lost 35 pounds in 13 weeks. I went through a divorce and put it all back on. I now have re-joined knowing it does work. I do not eat the bars. As for the take-off drink, I don't use that either. When I was on it the first time there was no take-off juice. Instead, we were told to eat 2 oranges a day. So, that is what I did this time aswell. I started on Tuesday and it's only Thursday and I lost 5 pounds already.
Good Luck
ReplyThe LA Weight Loss program has been one of the best things I could have ever done for myself. I had Struggled to loose weight for years and when I started, the pounds started melting off. I was epicially excited being able to eat 2 chocolate bars a day and have the weight come off! I have lost 23 pounds and am almost at my goal! YAY!
Yes, the program is expensive, but what weight loss plan isnt? The best part about this plan is you use REAL food.. not food that they give you, so you can continue making healthy choices for years to come. This was definately the best investment. =)
ReplyThis sounds like a commercial if I ever heard one... although the ebay thing is a good idea!
ReplyHello, I'm writing from NYC.
I joined LAWL Midtown Manhattan about 3 weeks ago. I hear people saying that the purchase of bars is optional, however when I signed up, part of the written agreement is that you MUST buy the bars as part of the program at a price of $29.00 a week. Once I learned that, I told my counselor that I could not afford that since I'm a student and I also joined the gym recently so that's a big gap in my budget, but she said not to worry about it and to come back 3 days later after the Fast Forward stage (first 2 days).
When I came back and talked about the bars there was not really another choice other than buying the bars. My counselor was definitely more interested on making commission than trying to work with me and my limited budget. My counselor was also very rude and even got upset when I told her I couldn't afford that. She also hasn't called me at all after I did buy 5 weeks worth of bars. After I paid for the bars I have been completely on my own, so much for a program that takes pride on being personalized and warm. Maybe other people had better counselors, but mine was such a rude woman, and when I called today to try to cancel the program she didn't even give me any information, she got upset again and told me to read the agreement and see what my options were. I called LAWL customer service number and they told me the manager for my area will call me back sometime today.
I cannot talk about how good or bad this program is, I'm sure it has worked wonders for a lot of people, but I definitely disagree about the way they push their products on you, and how rude their staff can be.
ReplyHi. Former LAWL success but trying to get back into it from what I learned before. For those of you that are not being forced to buy the bars but want them check out the wrapper and compare the nutritional info with those in the grocery store. I believe when I was on it they were very similar to some of the balance bars. and the drink similar to the hollywood drink you can get in most drug stores or walmart kmart etc. pharmacy areas.
ReplyFor those of you feeling forced try crossing out the Must buy bars section of the contract initialing it and then signing. I would think it would be like any contract. They cant force you. Otherwise walk out sure they will change there mind if there going to lose all there commission. Think Car sales! :)
If anyone can give me amts I would appreciate it/ Thanks
ReplyI wish someone could have done that for me, I could have saved alot of $$ ...lol
ReplyI think it's good to join. The weighing in is exciting as is the measurements!!
As long as you stick to it, it WILL work. Just like any diet, you have to stick to it. There is a method behind their madness. The best part is, you don't even have to exercise to get it off. I lost it ALL without exercise. (the first time) And, hoping it will work like that this time.
I am down 7 1/2 pounds in 4 days. Yes, I know it's water weight, but the way I look @ it is, weight is weight no matter what type.
To make my previous post clearer, measurements as in your body. They measure you every month to see how many inches you lose.
ReplyThe new rule is you MUST buy the bars or you cannot join. You cannot cross off that part in the agreement. They will let you walk away and lose a sale if you do not do the bars. They will not let you join or continue if you are not buying them weekly. PERIOD.
ReplyIn regards to the question "Is there an acceptable substitute for the la lites bars that i can buy cheaper at the grocery store." the answer is yes. South Beach protein bars have almost all the same ingredients and yet are better because they are cheaper, fewer calories and fewer carbs.
ReplyI joined LAWL a year ago, Jan. 2, 2006. The program is a lot like the old Weight Watchers food group program (Pre-points) plus candy bars (LA Lites). It's a healthy program and I was very successful for 7 months losing 34 lbs. But then I hit a plateau and did not lose weight for 5 months. The excellent staff who had navigated my initial weight loss were all leveraged out of the center because they spent more time helping clients, like myself, who paid A LOT of money up front to continue losing weight instead of pressuring them into spending more money. The replacement staff have been poorly trained, are not familiar with the program and have NEVER used it themselves, and are under pressure to sell rather than help. Most of the staff have NEVER been on a diet! This accounted for 5 months of moving me from one program level to another with no weight loss. When the dietician was contacted she told the center's manager to INCREASE me to a higher calorie program and to discourage me from exercising which she said was not helping me to lose weight. I wonder about the caliper of staff that LAWL hires. I finally stopped listening to them, dropped to the caloric program recommended for my weight and continued exercising. The weight loss is now much slower that the first 7 months but I continue to follow the program and enjoy the LA Lite Bars with a non fat cappuccino each day.
ReplyOK, I am on a whole happy with LAW because I plateaued in the 150's after about 5 years of trying to get down to my goal of 130 (I am 5'3") 5 Years before in college I broke 200. I was going to the gym A LOT, went to a holistic chiropractic dr. That prescribed healthy herbal supplements and know what? That was expensive too. I tried a lot fo different things. Being healthy is expensive. Ramon Noodles Are Cheap. Ramon Noodles Suck the health out of you and make you fat. There is so much crap out there you can eat and yes, it is cheap because it is crap. I have issues with money and wish that LA didn't suck me into buying supplements and bars but for the most part THEY HELPED. IT took about a year (Even though it was supposed to take me about 14 weeks to lose the 28 poundsI needed to lose) but know what? IT worked. Nothing worked before this. I was fighting to be in the 150's and LAW Got me below the 150 mark. I didn't gain all my weight in a year let alone five so why should I complain about how long it took to lose it. You can't always get what you want, you have to work with what you have. Do whatever helps. LA Has helped me although the past 4 months I have gained 20 pounds back- went through a break up, moved, new bf I am extremely happy with that loves to cook and an absence from a gym and yes I gained weight back and I stopped following the plan. MY sister is 117 pounds used to be a gymnast and I got all the fat genes. My point is you have to do what you have to do. If you eat a whole bunch of calorie dense food, your body will try to store it. It is a primitive fact. Our primitive ancestors stored fat to survive and it just doesn't work in this modern world. LAW Helps me spread out my food and puts me on a routine and adds structure to my life. I love food. I need structure. I workout a lot, now that I need to lose over 20 pounds again I plan on going to the gym 2 times a day atleast 4 x's a wk until I just need to maintain and YES it is extremely time consuming and YES food and Supplements are very expensive but research the supplements, they make sense-like the xcel having a whole bunch of b vitamins, green tea and yerba mate-things to boost your metabolism. Another reason I work out a lot is because of stress and depression and I have very bad kneas. I call it my "pre-Physical Therapy" I need it in my life for balance. LAW has taught me balance because someone that just happens to be skinny so they are peckish and don't really eat can't tell me how to eat. Premade meals don't work because I go out to eat and I have a life. It does bother me how I do feel more educated about health and weightloss than the majority LAW employess but I know how being on the program makes me feel and how it helps me to maintain my muscle a lot better (usually if I get stressed out my body uses the muscle as energy and stores MORE fat) You have to know your body really well and admit you are helpless to what your body was made to do- survive and just work with it. LAW is working with my body even though it is expensive but being healthy enough to run 2 miles without stopping at the gym or not sweating my butt off if it's hot when everybody else is, is well worth it. I am human, I have eat attacks, my body has urges to have high calorie foods. I try to do what I can to prevent this and that is where structure and planning comes in. You only have one body to work with so do what you can as soon as you can. Assume most will not realize what you have to do to not be over 200 and unhealthy because most people don't realize what it takes. Do you have what it takes? Don't blame other people, you control your body. Side note- yes, I do the juice and the supplements but you have to look at the whole picture. research! One of the reasons your body retains fluid and fat in the cells is because of all the toxins in todays environment and cheaper more convenient foods that your body can not process. Juicing helps get rid of that. So does De Tox Tea (that you can buy in a grocery store). That costs money too. There is a reason celebrities look so great and have expensive personal trainers and chefs (well besides the ones that are too skinny) It take a lot to be healthy and maintain a healthy weight. Educate yourself and get things in your arsenol that will help you- such as LAW. Work on your QUALITY OF LIFE!
oh and another thing- it's a corporation!!! We are consumers! Of course they are going to try to sell you products that maybe you don't necessarily need but may help you on your way.
ReplyHi everyone,
ReplyI joined LAWL 1 1/2 years ago, and needed to lose just 22 lbs. It was supposed to take just 12 weeks, but took almost 18. It was good for me to weigh in 3x a wk, a pain to bring my 2 kids in and wait, but it kept me honest, and on track. I felt so good, I did lose 18 lbs of the nasty fat, and kept it off for a while. It got harder after you start adding more food to your diet, and need to stay within 5 lbs of your goal weight. I had to take a medical leave, and put 8 lbs back on!! I want to be back on the program , and was only 5 weeks away from my first rebate, which is about 175.00. I called to talk to someone at my center, and they will allow me to come back, and give me a couple weeks to get back to my goal, or just back to that 5 lbs over mark. It is worth it to me. Yes, its expensive, but for me, it was the disipline I needed, and I am looking forward to seeing the weight come off again!!
I didn't read ALL of the comments because there are a bunch but I do have a question I'm hoping someone can answer. I signed up for LAWL in March of 05 wanting to loose about 150 lbs, and am now out of prepaid weeks but am not at my "goal". Although I do credit them with helping me start my weighloss I'm tired of the way they make me feel when I go in and I have no intention of paying them weekly for the rest of my life....can they "do" something to me if I just stop going? I don't really care about getting any money back...I signed up, I paid the money willingly...I just don't want to pay anymore. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
ReplyCome on everyone... LA Weight Loss is not that bad. Expensive? Maybe... that depends on what you call expensive. Everyone on here talks about the price of the bars. Have you ever once considered the foods we have been eating and spending money on before doing the diet? Those cost too. Give LA a break. I have lost 70 pounds and to me, every cent is well worth spending. My center did not and does not force me into anything. I do know that now anyone who joins the diet does have to use and buy the LA Lites. They make it very clear. I am grateful for the counselors in my center. They do just what I wanted. That is hold me accountable to their program and to lose weight. Do they try to sell me things? Sure if they think it would help me. Sometimes I buy and sometimes I dont. I have tried so many programs in the past. Not every program is for everyone. Give these people a break. They help people every day. If you don't like the plan then don't go there. I would not change a thing though. I would not take my 70+ pounds back for any price. They have helped save my life. My advice is go to your local center if you are interested and check it out. I dont think anyone will be disappointed.
ReplyThere is no substitution for the Take Off drink. Also, nothing out there exactly like the bars.

ReplyRead your contract. I never heard of anyone having problems just quitting the program. They have your money, right? Different centers might have different contracts but mine guarantees so much weight loss OR so many weeks if you lose more quickly. It seems to take most people longer to lose than the estimated 2 lbs. per week. My contract guarantees the amount of time I need until I reach my goal. I reached my initial goal of 30 lbs. then bought 40 lbs. more of "weeks" when they were on special. Of course when I visited the center last week they tried to tell me I was out of weeks and I had to offer to show them the original contract and that quieted the matter for now. According to their estimation I should be at my goal weight but because of a 5 month plateau and the worst advice from inexperienced counselors and dieticians I still have 33 lbs. to lose. I would advise everyone to keep very good food diaries and all your records to show you have stayed on the program and intend to hold them to their contract. I am having a VERY difficult time losing the second half of my goal weight. The first 30 lbs on the Purple plan went off at a really nice pace, but now on the Gold Plan it is slow or no loss at all. I upped my cardio exercise and really stick to the program. Anyone else having these problems?
Please beware of the whole LA weight loss program - the financing piece anyhow. I got schmoozed into the whole thing being told it would be a year and I would get half my money back if I reached my goal. The weight loss sounded great but the money was tons. Right after I signed up I had some medical problems and was told by staff there that I would be able to be put on hold, etc. etc. Meanwhile, the finance charge on the GE Credit card was mounting without me really realizing it. The interest rate is humongus! So my suggestion is do not finance through the credit card. The weight loss program may be ok but watch what you sign and how you finance. It is expensive, especially if you are not familiar with credit cards and the huge interest rates. Good luck everyone.
ReplyI hate this program!! I started almost 4 months ago and get this I've only lost 6.5 pounds! Big deal and I have paid around $600! That's $100 per pound!!! I am trying to get my money back now. Someone was supposed to call me today, so they said, but never did. So I would advise everyone, DO NOT DO THIS!!!
ReplyWow. I am horrified that so many people are having negative experiences with the weight loss centers. Too be absolutely honest I, myself, felt like I had been ripped off when I first started. I think it is due to the fact that everything has to be paid for up front. I turned down ALL vitamins, snacks, and meal replacements and ONLY took the smallest package offered for the bars to limit cost- but I know I've shelled out close to $1000.00. BUT this has been the only program that I've stuck with and managed to change the way I eat AND I really think that paying for it all up front (and going into shock) was what made me change. After paying all that money there was no way I was not going to stick with it and not commit myself completely to the program. I'm never hungry..(sometimes I feel like I've got too much lined up to eat). The program is super easy to follow. I've went from an 18 to an 8 and feel wonderful. 20lbs and I'll be what I weighed in highschool! My center has been great. They let me post date a gazillion checks to help me get started. I never used the care credit...just spaced payments out and I've been okay. I will admit that I don't go in and weigh as often as they would like but the scale keeps going down and I'll recommend the program (and the cost) just for that reason alone. Good Luck!
ReplyHi, Just wanted to add my 2 cents. LA weight loss is very expensive, but I have spent tons of $ on weight watchers, "miracle pills", diet books, etc....I've probably tried everything out there. I finally stopped in an La weight loss center - I was shocked at the price, but I paid for the program in full - figuring it as an incentive to stick with it. I've lost almost 70 lbs!! I love the one on one attention. Yes, I couldve done all this on my own, but weighing in several times a week helped. I added exercise on my own and I feel awsome. Weight watchers weighed me once a week, never looked at my food journal to pinpoint problems, and didnt even know who I was! The girls at LA may be "sales" oriented, but the girls at my center have become my friends - definatly helpful and encouraging. I'd do it again. They actually follow you through weight loss, stabilization and maintaining.
