LA Weight Loss Exposed

LA Weight Loss are a center-based weight loss program. The potential client comes in for their free assessment, gets weighed, and has a program provided for them. Motives behind LA Weight Loss have been questioned after the company was fined $100,000 (in 2002) for using false claims.

LA Weight Loss Clinics

LA Weight Loss have a number of clinics worldwide. Many feel that it is an expensive program - particularly if finance options are chosen (rather than cash).

The diet plan is customized to include appropriate portions of Proteins, Vegetables, Fruits, Starches, Fats, Dairy and LA Lites. LA Lites are soy-protein bars - which form a central part of the program. When purchased in bulk the cost of the bars is not insignificant.

LA at Home

la.jpg
The "at home" program has recently been introduced whereby users can access their plan on-line rather than visiting a clinic.

The LA at Home program consists of a Starter Kit - that is delivered to your door. Once the starter kit has been received - the program can begin.

The Program Diary forms the central part of LA at Home. This on-line diary allows all meals and beverages to be recorded, along with weight tracking, exercise log, and thoughts and feelings about the days eating. The site also allows access to a recipe section, and the ability to join a support group by way of on-line forums.

NOTE: It appears the LA at Home program is no longer operational (Nov 2007).

The cost of $219 includes customized meal programs, 4 weeks of LA Nutritional Bars, and samples of best-selling products.

UPDATE: Many commenters have suggested sourcing the LA Lites at discount from eBay.

The prior post... are you joking? Have at it on purple with no Lites. And when you fall off plan I look forward to another rant about sticking it to the man.

Y'know, this blog reminds me of one of the smaller reasons I left LAWL and why I am losing tolerance for this blog. Except for a rare handful, this blog is full of angry, overweight women who think they are better than everyone else and who think they know better. I suggest that you all get up off your duffs, stop bringing everyone down, and go for a nice, brisk walk. Misery loves company and you all sabotage each other brilliantly. You all dance around this program, how centers work, how relationships with your center can affect your success and moan and groan about money. You didn't get fat for free and you won't get skinny for free on this program. This blog should be changed from Exposing LAWL to WOMEN WITH BAD ATTITUDES WHO NEED TO BLAME AND BITCH. You all know better than everyone else that's for sure, too bad you just don't know how to get thin and stay thin. HERE'S A HINT: it's called.... NO EXCUSES.

And if this post pisses you off than good! Use that and prove me wrong! Ladies, for the love of Pete, please do not let others disuade you from incorporating the Lites. They work, end of story. Notice the ones who tell you to avoid them? Are they skinny? Happy? Successful? NO!!! They are griping about this or that, and then try to end all posts with a transparently positive attitude. Kind of like, "wow, I am a negball but I don't want others to think that since I need the world to think I am invincible and strong and all knowing and I have my act together but I just have a bit of a struggle with weight and I need everyone else to accomodate me because God forbid if I have to change! Not me, because I have it all together!" Sound familiar? I'm sure it does but you won't admit it. And that my friends is why you will not succeed. You all are on high horses about being on a plan for a week or two. Well, ladeedah, we will all appreciate your self-rightousness a bit more when you lost the weight and kept if off.

And don't bring me your sob stories, your victimization stories to try to show me why I am harsh and cold. I will have to redirect you to the above... NO EXCUSES. If you want to stay fat, that's your right. If you want this program to work, work at it. If you don't want this program, cancel it. Enough with "my center doesn't refund." All centers refund. Then, try another program and get ready to start bitching again ladies!

I went to LA weightloss yesterday for my free consultation. I think people are ridiculous for putting LA Weightloss down. Ok. They say $7 a week and they are not lying. You pay on a basis of $7 a week, you just pay it up front. People just feel better about paying weekly, but things like weight watchers that charge you $12 a week actually end up costing you more. I didn't have the almost $700 I needed so I informed the woman that I would have to wait to join. She told me it was my choice but I would lose the %10 discount if I didn't sign up on the spot. She gave me a really good solution. I paid $100 down and they are going to draft an additional $100 from my account for the next 6 months. Simple enough. No financing.

LAWL is a great program. Just keep in mind that paying all that money upfront is a bit risky - if you cant use the LA Lites for some reason - health, discontinue plan, etc. My suggestion to all those planning to join LAWL is... only pay for the plan upfront and buy your LA Lites/supplements as you go. That way if you wish to cancel, you do get a refund on unused weeks, and have not wasted money buying LA Lites in bulk. It doesnt make any sense to put an excess of $1000 into something you havent even tried yet, and worst of all charging it to your CC. And definitely do not go with their finance plan. Its easier to pay as you go (may be a little expensive) but definitely saves you the stress of fighting for a refund, incase you have to, and plus, you will be paying them every now and then, so the counsellors have to continuosly display some interest in your progress :-)

i joined about 4 days ago. i have lost about 6.5 pounds. i was diapointed by the pushy councilor who told me that i wouldnt lose as much without the lite. but i flat out told her that i didnt like them and i am not going to eat them. so i was put on a different program. which is fine. i am not eating that crap!! just be stronger than the pushy slaes people. i believe the program can be done without the bars, you just have to step up the water ans activity.

OK the new deal is that the bars are required as of Dec 4 2006 unless you are medically disqualified you must buy the bars bulk upfront or weekly $29. I know because I work for them as a paid sales counselor, trained to sell not counsel. You will be asked to use another's credit card if your credit is bad, use yours, get "care credit' to the tune of 23%, borrow money anything!!! The business is not in good financial shape, they are doing layoffs and with $3 weeks not even making goals.
Be aware you are a DOLLAR sign and nothing more. If your are willing to follow the program and buy $89 bottles of ginseng you will lose. No more rebates no more guarantees you will be kept in a room with the manager paying you a false compliment and fast talking you into buying and do not think you will ever get a refund does not happen!!! keep an eye out on Primtime for an expose'

I wish you people would read the contracts when you sign up!! It's funny to read all of your complaints, knowing the policy and all. I used to work at LAWL, and, yes, up front it seems very expensive. But people.. what isn't??? Break it down, and it is about 30-40% cheaper than both Jenny Craig, and Weight Watchers.
And really, if you would READ the contract before signing, it states everything that you are arguing about. So what if you get some idiot trying to sell you things, everyone needs to work! It's still your responsibility to read what you are writing, correct?
I lost almost 100 lbs in a little less than a year, and i LOVE the bars. They are a life saver.. You would think that if the company was all that bad, that an employee wouldn't be able to loose either, right? The only reason i left the company is because they actually only pay us $9 per hour!!! If your going to complain about something, for god sakes, let it be that!!!!

I did lose weight on it but as most of you spent a ridiculous amount of money. I had a family emergency and was in another state for almost a year where there was no center. They did offer to allow me to restart and use the remaining time. I never did. I have a few friends that I think had very bad experiences and one has been giving out all of the info that she had gotten from them to friends. Some have done well on their own. Instead of using their LA lites, they use a similar product from the supermarket. I did that as well when I Was on the program. It cut my weekly cost from $28 to less than $5! I am surprised that no one has posted their diet on the web.

Hey. I joined LAWL and started Nov28, 2006. I knew of the plan thru my sister-in-law who did it. I started at a weight of 154.4 and wanted to drop 24.4 to become 130. I told them upfront I was not interested in any LA Lites nor supplements. I wanted to learn how to eat. Prior to LAWL I pretty much always missed breakfast and lunch and then would eat a bigger dinner. In the last 12 years i never lost or gained anything over my 155. I stablized at that weight and could eat whatever i wanted. However before having my kid... I was at 125-130. So I knew that my body could handle being back at the 130 that it was born to be. So since I knew the plan worked from my sister in law. I thought I'd try it. I wasnt going to pay any more than 300 total dollars. I went to some prior consults and one was 700 and one was 330. Then a couple weeks back it was price quoted at 250. I took. Im sure I could have negotiated to at least 200, but since it was under the 300 I wanted.. I took it. Ive been on the plan for about a week now. I cant really say I feel like ive lost any weight. I bought a scale and in the morning today out of bed it said 149. But however throughout the day then it went up to 152. Im on the purple plan with no LA lites. The add 2 veg and 1 fruit to supplement for taking out the la lites. ITS ALOT OF FOOD. Thats all i can say right now. Im totally sick of eating. I feel like I get done eating and then Im having to eat again. Im wondering with all this food im eating now... how will i ever lose weight. Im just hoping that I wont see all this food end up on my thighs or butt in a couple weeks. It just seems like too much food to eat in order to lose weight. I get the whole metabolism thing, but do I need to exercise now. I really didnt want to do that until I have lost the 24.4 pound. I want to lose without exercise so my body doesnt expect exercise all the time. HMMMMMMMMmm any suggestions or anyone with a similar experience to mine... what happened.. did you lose the weight in the long run????

My wife just joined this without my knowledge (she is spontaneous and I am a research junkie). She is 2 weeks into it and loves it as she is one who needed the female support. I wasn't thrilled after researching LAWL, wasn't thrilled to see she paid $750 when I know I could have negotiated a better price (I know, half back but I was skeptical of ever seeing that $$ before researching LALW and am less now), and was even less thrilled when the LAWL sales pitches came last week (thank goodness she did not buy yet). Now I'm hearing that the $$ back refund is contingent on buying Lites from LAWL. We cannot afford anymore $$ (lots of medical bills to go and wife has not worked in a year due to cancer). I don't mind the basics of this program - if wife loses her weight it will be well worth the $375 - but being faced with hundreds in LAWL products or or losing the $375 refund does not sit well. To be honest it may be cheaper to lose the $375 refund than to go the Lites route.

QUESTIONS FOR ANYONE:

1. My wife has just completed chemo & radiation and is supposed to minimize her soy intake and get doctor's permission before taking supplements (she has a call into him today). If doc gives her written statement to stay off of supplements and to keep Lites to a minimum, will LAWL honor the refund if all other aspects of the diet & weight loss are met?

2. How negotiable are they on the Lites bars? With wife allowed some soy intake and her loving the bars I wouldn't mind buying 5 boxes to see how they work, but I ain't buying 20 to 40 boxes of anything, especially given that she will likely be limited to 4 or 5 a week by doc. Will they haggle on Lites prices, especially given availability of them on ebay?

3. Is there any detailed info online listing products similar to LAWL products. I've seen Luna & Pria for bars, but what about other products?

Any and all comments appreciated as I'm trying to keep my family from getting in over our heads while not bursting my wife's bubble. And to be honest I am excited to finally see her excited about weight loss.

My take so far on LAWL is if you end up with a good counselor and you don't get suckered into buying all the products AND you actually stick to the program, it is a healthy and effective weight loss program. Too bad you have to add all the "ifs" in there to quantify that.

Is there any way to get ANY of the upfront money back?
I really wish I had of read these posts BEFORE going and chunking down my money. I went in on a desperate day when I was feeling my fatest ever. They sign you up on their program, charge outrageous prices, and then you are stuck.
I did try to do EVERYTHING they said for 5 weeks. I only lost 4 lbs in 5 weeks, however, I gave up all sweets, all my sugar laden cokes, chips, etc. I did the juice take off for 2 days, I drank the 8- 8's of water every day. I took the supplements etc. I should have lost 4 pounds from the 2 days of juice alone! I naturally got discouraged after completly changing my eating habits for 5 weeks and only losing 4 lbs total. Heck, you can lose that many lbs just by starting your period!

I really feel as if they prey on over weight depressed people. They KNOW to get the money up front! I really could not afford the 700.00 to sign up ( not counting the bars and supplements and cook book!!!!!), but I was at that point! The bars taste great, I just can't afford to eat 2 a day for a year etc.

Please, Please! think long and hard BEFORE you say yes.

The program does work if you do everything they say. The La Lites are expensive, however, it does cut your cravings and if you stick to it the program does work. I know many people that lost on LAWL. Many people that do buy lites on ebay, the bars can be old. I have seen some old boxes sold on ebay. Please be careful. At the centers the boxes are rotated frequently. If you do buy in bulk, you are getting a very good price as well. I work for them as a counselor and understand all of your concerns.

Just wanted everyone to know, the program is awesome. I lost 50+ lbs. back in 1998 and I still have it off. They tought me alot of good stuff. The one thing that I love is that the program is updated yearly, the 1 on 1 is great.I really needed that, plus just having someone for the support and the motivation. I love the LA lites, and be honest, unless you go and get dif bars on sale, they are affordable. Think about it, on an average of about 2.00/bar. But, in the long run, think of all the money you are saving, I KNOW I spent more then 16.00/week on the junk I use to eat that made me FAT! Add it up, think of all they $$$ we spend on food/soda/junk, that keeps our weight ON! Do we ever complain about that? NO, bcuz it tastes good and we like it! Seriously, LA isn't a diet, its a lifestyle change, plus think of all the preventive you are doing long term, like for doctor bills, medications, ect. Yes, it can be expensive, but the way I look at it, it's an investment in myself. So, I can LUV me, and LUV that person I see looking back at me in the mirror. Just READ everything, it takes work, but the weight does come off, I know faster then I put it on. Plus if u do this right this would be your last diet, so no more $$$$ spent! Good Luck!

Prey on depressed fat people, now c'mon! Thats so silly, I know when I went in I felt like that ( fat & depressed), but I wouldn't blame them I know they didnt hold a gun to my head. We all have a mind of our own, and our own wits, even if it is a low day we can just say NO! So, honest, most need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. And give it 100%! See the results, they talk for themselves! As for 4lbs in 5 weeks, thats great, plus some people lose dif then others. Have them call the dietician if u are unhappy. Really, if u follow the program, you'll see results even if u do cheat!

I WAS ALSO TAKEN IN BY THE LA WEIGHT LOSS PROMISES, AND THE HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS FROM THE COMMISSIONED SALES PEOPLE. INITIALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD ONLY COST ME $5.00 A WEEK, AND I COULD EAT GROCERY STORE FOOD, THERE WOULD BE LOTS OF SUPPORT, AND THAT ALL SUPPLEMENTS WERE OPTIONAL. WHEN I GOT THERE, I WAS DESPARATE TO LOSE WEIGHT, AS I HAD TRIED EVERY THING. AT FIRST, THEY SEEMED VERY CARING, AND SUPPORTIVE, BUT WHEN I RETURNED FOR MY SECOND VISIT, I WAS GIVEN THE SALES PITCH. THE SALES PERSON TOLD ME SHE WOULD BE RIGHT BACK, LEFT THE ROOM, AND RETURNED WITH HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PRODUCTS, WHICH I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO PURCHASE, IN ORDER TO BE SUCESSFUL. THEY PRESENTED THIS TO ME IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS, WHICH EMBARRASED ME, INTO AGREEING TO THE PROGRAM. AFTER RETURNING HOME, I READ THE FINE PRINT, AND DECIDED THAT I JUST COULDN'T AFFORD ALL THE BARS, NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS, AND 52 WEEKS OF MAINTAINENCE REQUIRED,NOT TO MENTION, THAT I HAD TO BE COMPLETELY SUCCESSFUL,IN ORDER TO RECEIVE 1/2 OF MY MONEY BACK. I CALLED THE LA OFFICE BACK, AND TOLD THEM I COULDNT AFFORD THIS, TOLD THEM I WAS MISLED OVER THE PHONE, AND CHANGED MY MIND. I WAS INFORMED THAT I COULD NOT RECEIVE A REFUND, BUT THEY AGREED TO TRANSFER PART OF MY MONEY PAID UP FRONT, INTO THE COST OF BARS, (WHICH IS WHAT I SUGGESTED, AND AGREED TO STAY FOR THE INITAL WEEKS ALREADY PAID FOR. I DID LOSE SOME WEIGHT, BY FOLLOWING THE EATING PLAN, WHICH WAS VERY RESTRICTIVE, AND I DID LIKE THE BARS,BECAUSE IT ALLOWED ME TO EAT SOMETHING SWEET, BUT I GAINED ALL OF MY WEIGHT BACK ,UPON STOPPING THE PROGRAM. I HAD TO DRIVE 25 MILES ONE WAY,TO THE NEAREST CENTER, 3 TIMES EACH WEEK,IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH THE PROGRAM. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COSTLY DIET TO ANYONE. WHEN I REFUSED TO BUY ANY MORE PRODUCT WHILE ON THE PLAN, I WAS TREATED DIFFERENTLY, AND DID NOT RECEIVE THE SUPPORT THAT I WAS PROMISED. LIVE AND LEARN THE HARD WAY THAT MONEY TALKS!

Re: L.A. Weight Loss Centres.
L.A. weight loss is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. The sales associates are no professionals, they know nothing about diet or nutrition nor do they know anything about councelling. This whole program is a scam, they lure you in, get your money and after that they don't deliver. What bothered me is, that different people loose weight differently, however, for me to maintain weight I should eat 3000 calories a day, and to loose 2 pounds a week you need to deduct 1000 calories which for me would be 2000 calories a day in order to loose weight. LA put me on a 1300 calorie diet which is ludicrous, needless to say, my body went into shock thinking that these are not enough calories and stored it, therefore at first, I actually gained weight. I am in a battle with them now to get my money back which was $2,200 for both my husband and I. All they want is your money, don't give it to them. We are on counting calories now and have lost weight accordingly. Yes, it does take willpower and commitment, but we have both now. We will be fighting to the end to get our refund, otherwise we will contact the media and better business bureaus as well.

I know we all look for a quick fix for weight loss and even though this is a very personal issue, there are lots of companies out there which are dishonest and take you as you are most vulnerable.
I have learned my lesson but will not give up until this is settled.

A total misrepresentation and scam. I was charged $700 for 4 months and then after two months of the four their office moved to a town ten miles away, so it was very difficult to get to. I was also told that I had to buy $300 worht of bars and then told, because I had the gout, I couldn't eat them. They wouldn't consider giving me my money back. There are no counsellors, only salespeople. I wish the attorney general's office would do something about this scam.

I think LAWL is what you make of it. I joined in July to learn how to eat healthy and keep the weight off after years of yo-yo dieting between WW and Atkins. In a few short months I have succeeded without the use of the LA lites or supplements. I am now eating more food than I ever have and am losing weight as an extra benefit.

Read the fine print before signing contracts and take responsibility for yourself. If you don't feel comfortable...don't sign up.

I personaly have done the plan and yes this is an expensive plan I have lost over 80 pounds. I first started on plan with the La Lites, they helped me with my sweet tooth, but man they put a hole in my pocket, the girls in the center I am a member at are GREAT! I "Bulked" as I went I think 10 at a time, it came out to be 13.50 a box better then 16!! But like I said 135 a month, hole in pocket, I asked a counsler if I could substuite the LA LITES for other foods she went into really building up benifits I just told her hey I CANT afford these any more but I have to lose this weight help me, they put me on a plan without lites, yes they have these and it's not a bit of a problem to do with out and I have lost 65 pounds without the lites, they can even call the diatician if you dont like veggies and give I recived an extra starch! He-He, even though they work on commission(only like 3% of their total sales) they do care about you, just tell them your challenges and let them know you can't afford their products and would like more "real food" choices. Good luck to and don't EVER give up, It's all about how bad you want it!!

I successfully got a refund after my 3-month experience there. I got a hassle from the local center, so I called the corporate headquarters and they gave me 3 options. I don't remember the first 2, but the last option was a refund. I finally got it a month later after nagging them twice. But, I felt vindicated for their bait & switch operations.

Hi there. I joined LA six weeks ago. Yep... I've paid a bloody fortune, but I've lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks. I'm not happy about the cost, but I'm committed now... sold my soul to the devil so to speak. The one thing that has really angered me is that the few times my weight has gone up (and the most it's ever gone up is .6) they make me feel like it's my fault, that I'm doing something wrong, when I am following the program to the letter. Also, each counsellor has a different "tip". I am six weeks in and hearing stuff that I should have been told from the beginning. Also, when one counsellor tells me one thing, I'll bounce it off a different one my next time. The stories don't always jive. I'm only 6 weeks in... I'm happy with 15 lbs gone so far (13 to go), but I'm looking forward to the end of my year. My friend who joined with me doesn't want to see anything but positive. I can understand her point. We've paid and that's that.

I started the LA Weightloss Program 4 weeks ago. I thought it was strange when I went to signup they wanted my check right up front before even going through my medical history. I have lost weight on the program, but I would recommend to anyone who is thinking of joining to please ask more questions when you sign up. I feel stupid now because went in after seeing a commercial on tv for the 8 week holiday makeover and came out signed up for a 81 week program. Once I went in they asked me how many pounds that I wanted to lose. Then they figured out how many weeks it would take me to lose based on 2 pounds a week. So I needed to lose more weight than in that allotted 8 weeks so they work up two options for me to get to my goal weight. At this point be careful: I now wished I would have negotiated at this point more. With this being my first time to signup for weightloss help I agreed with one of the two options. PLEASE do not be like me and ask if there are more options on price then what they present. THIS IS MY REGRET. I started going 3 times a week as recommended, but the center I go to it seems as a waste of time. All they do is browse through food diary and ask if I have any challenges. Of course, I have challenges with food that is why I am here. Each time I go in for meeting I have a new counselor. I would love to somehow get some of my $ back.

Hi everyone,
All I have to say is I guess it depends on the people at your lawl center...I have been on the plan 3 wks...yes i have bought the bars (which I love)and no one has every tried to get me to buy any other product...in fact i've had to come out and ask them "hey can i buy some of that water flavorer and salad dressing". So far I am losing 3 lbs a wk and I only have to go twice cause I live so far..my mom just goes once every other wk cause she's a truck driver...they just altered the contract for us.. told me if I decide I only want to drive once a wk they'll change it no problem and I keep the money back bonus...The women make me feel so good how could I not want to go there...when I step on that scale and say "oh wow cool" I have 3 ladies coming out of their offices saying "what did you do now? how much?" Its like a party ...makes me feel so good. Im all for saving a buck, but they're are some things in life you splurge on and some things you scrip and save on...I think this is something I can spend an extra buck on..My Health...P.S. I feel i'm eating more food than I ever did. :)

Where do I start....I'm 23 and I've been overweight most of my life and thought that LA Weight Loss would be the answer to my dreams. I just graduated college and thought this would be the best time to take off about 50 pounds (starting at 230). I've been on the plan for 13 weeks and have lost 11 pounds. This is FAR less than the 2 pounds per week they advertise as being so easy. I do cardio 3 times a week and go to meetings 3x/wk. I take the stupid supplements and bought $1000 worth of bars and 1.5 years of appointments with the "counselors" (aka scam artists). Each appointment, their suggestions are pithy, with conflicting advice depending upon who you see. I've been told to drink more water, less water, they've changed my plans, and all the while they still smile and ask each week do I want to buy more supplements. I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!! Like so many of the other bloggers here I am disgusted with myself that I let them pressure me into buying the bars -- how is 400 extra calories a day necessary? Does anyone have any advice of HOW TO MAKE THE BEST OF THIS??? I feel like quitting now would be letting them get the best of me and I want to fight them! Selling my lifetime supply of bars on ebay does seem like a good starting point....ANY TIPS GREATLY APPRECIATED:)

I started LA Weight Loss 6 days ago and I have lost 4.8 lbs. It is encouraging to see the weight come off so fast versus when I was going to the gym, I never lost a pound. The program is very expensive and it makes me a little ticked when they try to tell you about the bulk LA Lites. If you say you cant afforrd it, they look suprised like they didnt know that it was expensive. I hate pushy salesmen. I have to admit that the program is still working. I even managed to have some ice cream and a big bowl of pasta on Friday, weigh in on Monday and not gain back a pound. I actually went from 168.6 to 168.2. Its not much but I was convinced that I had gained back the 4.8 lbs. I think that I will check out the pricing on Ebay as well. Oh well about the refund. It doesnt sound like anyone gets it back anyways.

I am currently on the gold plan. I would like to cut out the lites, what plan would I do? I asked the counsler and she was not forth coming with any information.

When I joined, I was not told about the lites. When I bought my first box, my mouth hit the floor. After that, I have purchased them on ebay.

They made me eat Monkey organs and told me I would lose weight. They also made me wear these emabarassing poca dot balloon air pants that were suppose to make me lighter, I got kicked out of K-mart and that made me really mad. That is so uncool. The starvation diet that Nicole Richy does is so much better.

I have read through almost every post...I am appalled...Some I agree with...most I do not...LAWL is a company with the sole purpose to HELP you loose weight...As they already know...just because you sign the dotted line does not guarantee your loss...The really hard work is yet to come...And also as they know most people have short attention spans...It takes years to put the weight on...And sometimes years to take it off...They offer TOOLS to help...And yes they are exspensive...But they work...If you buy a nice car, for your comfort...Seems silly to complain about what you paid for it...Or to be mad at the salesperson because YOU bought it...You must have thought for at least a moment...You were worth it...Buyer's remourse is NO GOOD EXCUSE for slandering a company with the best of intentions...Weight is sensitive...And to remove it is a very personal descision...Don't ruin it for those who can afford it...And CHOOSE to invest in themselves, their families and their futures...

I cannot believe that you really think their sole purpose is to help you lose weight. If so why do the sales counselors work on a big commission and why is it that all of their contest for their employees are revenue based. If they really cared about the client they would pay the employees a decent hourly and not work on commission. Keep in mind they are called SALES counselors.

I am a counselor at L.A Weight Loss and I am truely offended by alot of the negative comments I am reading on this blog. So what the staff is commissioned! So is the shoe store at the local mall does that stop you from buying shoes? The staff has a deep interest in helping the clients lose the weight. We work terribly long hours each day and its not because of the pay. It's because we know the clients look forward to seeing us each time they visit the center. The L.A Lites are an integrel part of the program. Lets be honest,I'm sure no one gains weight by snacking on celery sticks. They taste great and there are different flavors to choose from. THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF BULKING IS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A SAVINGS and nothing else. It is totally up to you, nothing is forced. Why would anyone want to purchase products (food) from ebay anyway? Their are some crazy people in this world and they could be selling you products from 2 yrs ago. If their is anyone reading this who is SERIOUSLY interested in losing weight give us a call. For those who are BITTERLY UNHAPPY and still overweight I wish you the best of luck in your weightloss efforts. I LOVE MY JOB! I have been there for over 3 yrs and have helped over 100 people reach their goal WITHOUT BEING A "PUSHY SALES COUNSELOR"

I agree, I like the the la lites but honestly the purpose of bulking the lites is not the savings it's the company on banking that the clients will give up after 3 months and stop coming in. Most of the clients that do that give up and never come in for the lites. There is the company's money maker. Lites already paid for but never given . Yes there is savings for the client but it is a known fact most people do not follow through. And no, it is not La Weightloss' fault that the client gives up. I am glad you love your job and I will agree that most counselors do care about the clients really losing the weight but do not compare shoe shopping with weight loss because you should know how completely idiotic that sounds, unless you are one of those counselors who has never had a weight problem because then you would truly never know how it feels.

I've heard nothing but negative feedback regarding LA Weightloss from everyone I know that's either on it or has been on it. Yes, it works if you do the program right, but it differs from JC and WW in a few ways. I did WW and it cost me basically nothing. I just got the program info and bought my own whole, natural foods and didn't buy any protein bar supplements or anything. Most people that I know that are on WW are usually pretty happy with the program, even if it is expensive. The group leaders are encouraging, not pushy and they don't force products down your throat. Anyone who tells you that you NEED LA Lites to lose weight is full of it. It's the pushiness of the salespeople, telling you that you can't put a pricetag on your health, etc., that drives people away.

And comparing a diet program to a gym membership is pretty much not even a comparison. Joining a gym is a MUCH better way to spend your money. Hey, you can lose weight for free if you want. I did. I put on some running shoes and started running. I stopped buying junk food and guess what? I lost weight. It's not rocket science.

I am all about investing in myself. But I would like to know that the people I have invested in have my best interest at heart. I think that we all know what it takes to lose weight and the LAWL program if followed like any other program. I feel that what we all have in common is that we wanted "support" not someone to push us out the door when we have already invested our money. I haven't gone in two weeks eventhough I am still doing the plan. I would like a counselor that what at least take an interest in calling to see what's up. That is what I feel we all need and the reason we went to LAWL in the first place.
