Children of Overweight Mothers Prone to Obesity
In this press release from the Children's Hospital of Phildelphia, some interesting conclusions are made (emphasis added):
"We found dramatic increases in body fat between ages three and six," said lead researcher Robert I. Berkowitz, M.D... ..."This suggests that some genes controlling body weight may become active during this period."
Suggests? Surely there could be any number of reasons for this. So what is it? Nature or nurture? Behavourism or genetics?
Early pediatric nutrition is quite different from adult nutrition. However surely an overweight parent that has fallen into a sedentary lifestyle of overeating can pass on those habits?
