Zone Diet Comes Out Top
The Zone diet works. Compared with Atkins and the traditional low-fat, high-carb diet, the Zone diet came out tops - according to a recent study by a university in New Zealand
The study was undertaken for a year, and unlike many other studies, had low drop-out rates. While Atkins looked promising at first, Barry Sears Zone Diet came out on top after 1 year.
I always thought the Zone had a more-balanced moderate nutrient balance (40% carbs 30% protein 30% fats) compared with many other diets. Although the calorie recommendations always seemed a bit low. Many people compare the Zone and other low-carb diets together - but the Zone is really a 'reduced-carb' diet.

I recently started on The Zone Diet. In fact, I live in Atlanta where I have my zone meals delivered fresh to my door each day. So far, the food has been good and I'm not hungry throughout the day. I've already lost some weight but more importantly my body shape is changing. With other diets you stay the same shape -just a smaller version of the shape. With The Zone, you get toned. It's almost like the fat melts away. I can see my abs now and had no idea that I could get this toned this quickly. I am also working out 4 times per week to maintain a healthy lifestyle (which I was doing before The Zone Diet). Now - I can tell a big difference and can fit into my "skinny jeans".
ReplyI'm happy to see that at least some people see the difference between the Zone diet and the low-carb diets. "Reduced-carb" diet is a very good way to put it, although I still like to think of it as "moderate-carb, moderate-protein" diet.
ReplyHi All - very interested in the Zone Diet but have a couple of queries. According to the book, one must stabilize their weight when they reach their ideal fat percentage.
ReplyWell I did some sums and this would end up as 51% of the overall diet as fat once you are on a maintenance diet.
Can this be right. Doesn't seem to make sense?
I tried the Chefsdiet for 5 weeks. I had food delivered fresh daily. The food is really good and what a lot of food they provide. The lunch time salads are so healthful and fresh. I am quite slender but had gained a bit of weight around my middle - I lost 3 1/2 of the 4lbs I wanted to lose. I would do it again but I would only have food delivered 3 days a week instead of five because it is really a lot of food.
