Not all fat is created equal
Abdominal flab linked to severe health problems
msnbc: All body fat is not the same. Researchers and health care professionals often measure overweight in pounds or with a calculation called the Body Mass Index (BMI). But some of the nation’s premier researchers now say that although these tools are easy to use and reliable, waistline fat poses far more health dangers than fat stored elsewhere.

What poppycock. Heard it before. How 'bout those of us who accumulate fat around the middle because we have short trunks and long legs? I'm the healthiest person I know, with reasonable BP, cholesterol levels, the works. I loathe these stories because it just sets up larger folk for more discrimination. Oh, y'got a big belly, yer gonna drop dead, I'm not hiring you. Whatever. But I know at least a dozen skinny people I am certain will not be joining me at the Centenarians' Club around mid-century!
