Anna Nicole Smith's New Shape

cbsnews.com: Asked why she decided to lose weight in the first place, since for a while she seemed comfortable in her own skin, Smith says, "I wasn't unhappy at all until just everybody just started ridiculing me so bad. I just got to the point that it was just like, 'My God, you know. Just shut up, everybody. What is the big deal?? And then I just looked in the mirror. I'm like, 'I am fat!'"

What really troubles me about Anna Nicole's support of TrimSpa is her saying, "It's really hard to eat, because, for me, it's like I've lost my appetite. So I have to really, really push myself to eat." That sounds like an eating disorder to me. If not for her, I can see where other dieters might fall into that trap.

You might want to look at the Diet Pill entries in the blog: we investigated both Cortislim and Hoodia pills.

billie-jo:

Cortislim contains bitter orange peel (Citrus aurantium) as one of its main weight-loss ingredients. Citrus aurantium is a sympathomimetic, which is the same class of stimulant belonging to the banned substance ephedra. Our body has two main nervous systems: sympathetic and parasympathetic. Sympathomimetics stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, which controls heart rate, blood pressure, blood vessel and pulmonary activity, etc. Stimulating the sympathetic nervous system causes heart rate and blood pressure to rise dramatically, which can cause accute heart palpitations and arrhythmia.

Since these products are marketed as metabolic weight-loss products, a lot of people combine their use with exercise. Exercise also raises heart rate and blood pressure, so taking a sympathomimetic can cause escalations beyond healthy levels. And considering these products are marketed to an overweight target group, these side-effects can be even worse, as overweight people are generally at a higher risk of heart rate and blood pressure complications.

Pills containing Citrus aurantium often also contain caffeine (in the form of guarana), green tea extract, cayenne, and other stimulating substances. In combination, these substances promote dangerous levels of stimulation to the sympathetic nervous system. One of the reasons ephedra was banned was some ephedrine users suddenly lost consciousness or suffered accute heart attacks. In some cases, these people did not recover and died. As Citrus aurantium has the same effect as ephedra, it can also lead to similar fatalities.

Another big problem with pills like Cortislim is that people often take them too close to bedtime with the notion that they will burn fat in their sleep. Going to sleep with an escalated heart rate can be very dangerous, especially for people who suffer from periods of sleep apnea (loss of breathing). Approximately 10% of adults suffer from 5 - 10 short periods of sleep apnea per night. Low oxygen levels caused by sleep apnea combined with a sympathomimetic can be very dangerous. In some cases, healthy people going to bed after taking these stimulants suffer heart failure in their sleep and never wake up.

Basically, I wouldn't recommend these pills. :-) Doctors and the FDA are just starting to classify substances which are sympathomimetics, and I would expect that most of them will be banned in the next few years.

I'm 21 years old,5'7'. In october 2004,i weighed 200lbs so i started using trimspa, i changed my diet excercised about 3 days a week, i experienced frequent headaches,i peed a lot and i lost only 2 lbs in 2 months and i felt uncomfortable. in late december i was introduced to apple cider vinegar diet where i took 3 pills per day. within the space of 3 months i lost 30 lbs in addition with excercise and a little dieting.

Hello, ladies --

I just had a physical today. I'm 5'9 and 270lbs. and I smoke between 20-30 cigarettes daily.

I know this sounds as though I look like the Pillsbury Doughboy. I look overweight, yes, but I do not look "morbidly obese" like the doctor's chart says I technically am. I'm quite physically strong. I used to lift a lot of weights.

But still, 270? I should weigh 160 according to that chart. I'd like to weigh 180. Okay, to be fair, I'd like to weigh less than I do, however less! I hate the "high-tension" buttons on my pants, the visible "hail-damage" on the backs of my thighs, the discomfort in sitting down because I've got big boobs, some sort of thing between my boobs and my belly that looks as though it also needs a bra, a big belly, and a big ass. Pardon my crudity. I'm just sick of feeling this way. I'm super-sized and have no idea what I'd look like were I to be a normal value-meal.

Walking down the stairs in the morning sometimes hurts. I'm thirty years old. I shouldn't feel like this for another thirty years, right? I've got to do something.

When I was in high school, I tried Dexatrim. Of course, this was over fifteen years ago, and I'm sure their chemical ingredients have changed, but it did nothing except make me a wide-awake fat girl.

In high school, I also tried throwing up and taking laxatives. Don't do this. It doesn't work, and it can ruin your looks and your health. I didn't do it for very long, thank goodness, and had no trouble stopping it, but some women get trapped in bulimia. I'm sure that Terri Schiavo, God rest her soul, would tell you not to do this!

Tried Weight Watchers years ago. I'm sure that's a great program, but I can't bring myself to listen to people clap over losing a pound. That's humiliating. I'm not in kindergarten! And everyone sits around looking at recipes... like they're pornography or something.

Tried Susan Powter's "Stop the Insanity" years ago. Her appearance was a big motivation. Her idea seemed to make sense. So I figured I'd try it. Gack! Eat only food that has a maximum of 10% fat for the rest of my life? I'd rather be fat and have alfredo sauce and not worry so much about it, than have to eat leaves and twigs. Pritikin and Dean Ornish's diets are also extremely low-fat. Again, great ideas, people who care a lot, but I wasn't able to bring myself to do these things.

Atkins... this worked well for me for several months. I'd eat like a ravenous wolf (wolves don't eat grains or veggies, do they?) and pee on a stick and see the stick turn purple and I'd get a tingly feeling in my belly and then BOOM! I'd lose weight. A lot of weight. My friends, male and female, saw me eating like a pig and losing weight and joined me on Atkins too. Problem: no energy. Problem: how much grease can a woman eat without feeling as though it is oozing out her pores? (I did find that McDonalds' double-cheeseburgers, with no condiments or bread, are a great way to spend $1.05 and have a meal on the run. They'll give you a knife and fork too.)

So, with this as my dieting history, I left the doctor's office today totally disgusted and ready for a change. I finished off my pack of cigarettes and threw the box away and cracked out the Nicorette gum, which I'm chewing now. So long as I have the gum handy, I've noticed from quit attempts in the past, I'm okay. But if it's not immediately available, I'm in trouble and I become the Marlboro girl again.

Also, I picked up a copy of The South Beach Diet (recommended by my doc) and the Dr. Phil thing (at least you know he won't pull your leg or baby you) and The Maker's Diet... maybe I'll combine all three... and picked up a box of Trimspa X32 at Wal*Mart for $21 for 75 tablets. The woman behind me in line decided to run and get herself some, too, after seeing mine.

I'm nervous about taking pills. Will they be a waste of money? Will they make me sick? I tried Hydroxycut back when it had ephedra and I was so energetic that I was weightlifting for SIX hours a day and didn't sleep and started to have a very violent temper. (200lb woman with big muscles, angry? Baaaaad.) Then I was told that I'm manic-depressive and the ephedra kicked me into acute mental illness. So I'm careful about taking things. I can drink a caffeinated soda without being jittery, but if I have three or four in a day I start to feel myself getting an elevated mood, and not in a good way. That's the illness. Doesn't look like Trimspa has anything in it that will put me in an asylum, so that's good.

270 on 4/18/05. Last cigarette at 2:30pm. I'll try to let you know how it feels later, and if it's working. I hope this can help y'all out! Loved reading your posts!

I really enjoyed reading what you had written Atlanta... good luck in all means. I just went to the doctor Friday... He told me I had something wrong with my "woman system", and that I wouldnt really be able to have children till I lost weight... and even then, I may have to take fertility drugs. I'm only 20, and didn't want this. I didnt ask if my weight had anything to do with it. Frankly, i didn't want to ask. It's just everytime I got to a Dr., I feel like all they want to talk about is my weight, and that I need to watch what I eat. I'm 5"6, and weigh 208... I can still wear decent looking clothes (16-18-20) and I don't feel that huge... but apparently in everyone elses eyes I am. I just can't help eating... i have a fridge full of stuff I just bought and try to eat lower in fat... I mean, if it came down to Sour cream... I but low fat or fat free... and "I cant believe its not butter, Light". NEVER buy Fat Free Cheese... its about as bad as eating... I dont know what. Just bad. My cholestorol is good, my CBC is great, my sugar was a little off, but thats bc they didnt tell me I needed to fast, and had fruit juice that morning. I just feel like, I'm 20, and I want to be able to wear cute clothes... and have everyone look at ME when I go out. Everyone says I'm pretty, Im just "a little overweight". I just don't have the energy to go work out, and I don't want to basically... I dont know what to do. I cant make myself do something I dont want to, and working 12 hours, i dont have the time. theres just so much temptation to eat... ive tried starch blockers and they dont work... some of my favorite foods are potatoes and pasta... and bread. so i dont know what to do. could somebody please maybe give me some advice? as said in an earlier post, i was cutting calories... and its not really working... when im able to i look at calories, but when the box isnt available and im not looking, i dont know what im eating!

Well...i was considering to try somthing in a bottle...but after Ben replied to my message...I think I light bulb went on. I realized where i wanted to be in 6 months...and it was not sitting here trying to figure out what magic pill would work. My origional idea was to tri to lose 20 pds with a pill then buy a hot outfit and run to maintian. Especially bc you don't know what is in the pills or if those products have had a 3rd pary assay done. I then realized that I might as well start running...and save my money. I figure out how much it would be to go to herbal magic (which they say is gaurentted to work) till aug...which will allow me to lose 40 pds. It will be 2000+. I asked my self...if someone was dangling a 2000$ worth of bills in front of my face everyday...would i run...and my answer is YES!!! I think that it would be such an amazing feeling to lose the weight on your own so that when pp ask you can say you worked your ass off (literally).
I am not sure what it was that got me motivated. Myabe my dad. He passed away from cancer 6 months ago today...i know that he would be kicking my ass right now if i wasn't running. I don't know if it is becuase i realized that after xmas i tried to eat healthier and then gave up and only 3 months later...i am still sitting here complaining. I figure 3 months goes by whether you exercise or not. I decided that i was going to run before work, everyday but wed and sundays. I have made a deal with my bf and another good gf of mine...to ask me everyday if i ran...so far it is working...bc my gf is now ridding her bike...so when we call everyday we are both pushing each other.
I am also addicted to chocolate...i decided to have a hot chocolate at the end of every day...if I behaved...like a treat...so that if i don't one day ...it is my own fault.
I have been running since thursday, lost 3 pds, my butt is lifted, so far i think i have more energy but this week has been very stressed so i am not sure yet. My pants are starting not to fit, my belt is tighter...which means i will need that 2000$ to buy new cloths when i hit my goal.
And those days i dont' want to run...i don't let my mind think of an excuse...i just put on my shoes and go.
I also try to eat healthy during thhe week...then eat what ever i want on the weekends...and bc i am running...it is ok. I would hate to restrict myself bc i am not exercising.
I am 190, 5'6, 24f...i was up to 215 at my most but that might have been after a box of cookies (ha). I also got the you look pretty, you jsut have a little extra weight...for me the majority of my weight is around my stomach area...i am pretty muscular every where else. But also remember you can look out there and see 2 woman both 150pds. The one that works out has more muscle and less fat. The one that takes pills to lose weight, will have more fat less muscle. But yet they are both 150. Plus muscle burns more calories at rest. Even if you have tubing to use, add some resistance.

Maybe this will give you some ideas to try.
Thanks Ben!

well it's very easy to use. For the first week u exercise for at least 10 minutes for about 2-3 days and gradually work your way up each week. you take 3 pills a day 1 after each meal and naturally u have to avoid certain foods. for the 1st month i lost 12 lbs and then 8 then 10 lbs; i haven't experienced any side effects.

That sounds pretty simple, but what does it actually do?? I mean, how does it work? Ive seen it at places like Walmart, and others, but I didnt really read about it.

I think Anna Looks good..But it is hard to believe it was TrimSpa ,,,,,,She is also to toned up to have just droppped weight with the diet Pill..She lost so much, she should have loose skin, weather she excercised or not...It was just to quick, I really think she had surgery...the only thing I feel about Anna is she should be honest about how she did it insted of making money with Trimspa...she is really doing other people wrong , by not being honest..My humble opinion ..... And liposuction is not going to make her lose weight..If it did there would be no surgery for weight loss..

People please. I don't even know where to begin.....yes, Anna does look great, however i don't believe for a minute that it was because of a magical little pill, do you? I've read in posts that some people feel less hungry and some don't, why do you think this is? Because it's psychological, If you don't think it's gonna work, it won't. If you starve yourself (and that IS what youre doing) you will lose weight eventually, but it is a very unhealthy way to lose pounds and you could do serious damage to your body. Another post went on to say, "you can't just take the pill, what is your diet like"? Thats should tell you right there that this pill doesn't help you lose weight! Trust me people, cut out the McDonalds, count calories when you can, get out and exercise, and the pounds will come off; you don't need to waste your money on a "miracle diet".

I don't think Anna lost weight with Trimspa and "NO" excersize. Is it possible? A new "Miracle Pill". Probably not. I saw a special on E where she took a vacation. She was getting on the jetski and her legs were very untoned. There was another special announcing the new Anna for model week. When she walked the runway her arms were also flabby. She has many indications of a Gastric Bypass patient. I know, I'm one of them. Her hair is thin, her skin somewhat transparent and the muscle loss too. This all happens due to the quick weight loss. She can deny surgery all she wants and offer to pose nude, but Gastric bypass is done laprascopic and you can't even see the 1 inch port sites after a while. I totally think she had the surgery and she should admit it for people who look to her and are now putting Trimspa in their body expecting a miracle.

The apple cider vinegar diet has been around for years. Susan Powter wrote about her experience with it in "Stop the Insanity". She said it made her smell like dirty socks. Take a whiff from an apple cider vinegar bottle and you'll see how this is possible. The cabbage soup diet will make you smell like a fart, so don't bother with that, either. Both of these foods are fine but they will not be your savior.

I'm down three pounds. Smoking again, though. One disaster at a time, I suppose.

I do have more energy, but not in a manic sense. I had the energy to clean my house and remodel a bathroom, and the place looks great.

Right now I'm eating a nifty new Lean Cuisine with salmon, spinach, carrots, yellow peppers, and rice/orzo pasta... and a homemade smoothie with OJ, yogurt and frozen strawberries... and a small bowl of Oreo cereal. Hey, there's some nutrients in it, and it is yummy, and it's better than eating the cookies that I otherwise might have eaten. (Yeah, keep telling yourself that, right?) Usually on Tuesdays I'd have a big bag of corn nachos with jalapeno cheddar sauce from a can, or hot dogs, so this large lunch (no breakfast, light dinner) is a huge improvement.

I am convinced that some of my weight loss is water. I don't care! Being less water-logged feels good.

Hope you're all well.

Well Atlanta i feel sorry 4 Susan Powter because i had taken the apple cider vinegar pills for 3 months and i did not develop an unsatisfactory smell, however, i'm not saying that she didn't. the pills worked great for me. the pills itself might have an unusual smell but hello, vinegar. You'll get use to that after a few days. right now a lot of persons who knew that i was fat that wants to lose weight has started taking this pill because they love my result. I highly recommend this simply because it works along with excercising of course.
Jessika try it c 4 yourself but don't complain if u take it and don't c results if u don't avoid certain foods and adopt a little excercising at least 3 or 4 days a week.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT EVERY PILL/ DIET WORKS DIFFERENT FOR FOR DIFFERENT PEEPS. MY SIS LOST 30 POUNDS IN 6 WEEKS ON SLIM FAST BUT SLIM FAST DOES NOTHING FOR ME. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT IF U LOOSE WEIGHT GRADUALLY THEN U WONT HAVE SAGGY SKIN. AND THAT WINE IS ALSO A SOURCE A FAT BURNING BUT IT IS VERY UNHEALTHY. I DO BELIEVE THAT SHE LOST THE WEIGHT IF SHE HAD SERGURY Y WAIT UNTIL NOW.

Don't kid yourselves. Diet and exercise are the ways to look good. Trimspa is not. A freind of mine lost 200 pounds in a year and a half without diet pills. He went from 415 to 215. If you want to get in shape it's no secret what you have to do. Don't let anyone sucker you out of your money and take advantage of you because you're looking for an easy way out.

Specifically how did he lose the weight...
How much exercising and what type did he do? What did he eat; was it real food or liquid diet?

Thanks

She dropped weight...she definetly had to have a tummy tuck to get rid of the excess skin and lingering fat, and no diet pill is going to give you permanent weight loss.

Most of you say you have gone on these fad diets, and yet you are here looking for another, hoping that this will be the one. Well, if it were, doctors would prescribe it, and the fda would approve it. Go to a nutrishonist and get a diet and some approved drugs
Or...just accept yourself as you are.

The best way to lose weight is with diet and exercise. You don't need "SuckerSpa".

I would like to say that I just sat here and read every last response and realized that YES we are all so different. It is amazing how some diets work for some and not for all. I am 31 yrs old and I have been on hundreds and hundreds of different diets since the age of 14. When I was 14 I weighed 180lbs. and now at the age of 31, I weigh 290lbs. This comes from going on and coming off diets. Losing weight and gaining weight. Just like a yo-yo. I also had a child. I have also had liposuction which did make me lose weight, but as soon as I had my child, all and more weight were gained and you would never know that I had surgery. I did try Trimspa because Anna Nicole Smith said that she lost all her weight by taking this pill. I tried it for 30 days and the pills did nothing. I am currently trying Zantrex-3 which is great. I have been using this pill for 3 weeks with exercise and have lost 10pounds. I have never been the breakfast type, but I do drink a lot of water. I eat my heaviest meal at lunch and I do not eat anything after 7:00pm. I also exercise at night instead of the morning so that I am not tired for that day. I hope one day I can be at my desired weight of 150lbs, but if not, then as long as I know that I gave it 100%, that is good enough. My goal is to lose whatever amount of weight by 3 months. I will see how much I have lost and then set another goal for another 3 months. I will give an update. Good Luck To All. No matter how you do it :)

Back in the 60's and early 70's the doctors handed out good diet pills like candy ( if you found the right docs that is). I lost weight and kept it off as long as i got to have the good drugs.
Then they took them off the market. I had a couple kids and i gradually climbed to 280 lbs. I was 5'4" at that time.
In 1976 i had a stomach staple. That didnt work.
I tried every diet known to mankind.
In 1986 i joined overeaters anonymous. I lost about 100 pounds. Was down to 140 and feeling on top of the world. The happiest i ever been in my life, by then i was in my 40's.
Got bored with OA and dropped out and started gaining again. Got up to 170 and the merical drug came out. Phenfen. I soon was down to 135...very happy with my wieght and keeping it off,,,long as i had the drug. I was on it for 2 or 3 years before they took it off the market. I was very unhappy about that.
Got in on the class action law suit, got my free echo cardiogram, have moderate heart damage.Got $6500 from them so far.
Now i am 54 yrs old and i wiegh 230.
I know that when you hear the advertisments about all the diet pills it always says in small print, something to the affect of,,,HELPS in conjunction with exersise and Diet. Well if you exersize and eat less you will lose weight without the pill. Its all a scam people.Believe me. If it sounds to good to be true it is.
I am going back to OA. Just wish there was an easier softer way lol!
Thanks for letting me share.

hey guys, i am 24 years old and i currently weight 145 lbs and this have been my set weight for the past 4-5 years. At 19 years old i weighed 202 lbs so i decided to try some diet pills because i was 2 lazy to just diet and excercise.i took apple cider vinegar for 5 1/2 months along with excercise( about 3-4 times a week 1/2- 1hr) and a minor diet. i lost about 60lbs, i still excercise some but i haven't taken anymore pills and just kinda avoid 2 much junk food. the most weight i've gained since then is about 2lbs and i just work it off back on my own.my mother had taken the pills too but she stopped because it did not have the same effect on her although she excercised and diet. So i guess it won't work similarly on everyone.

Tonalin CLA works wonders. I've lost a lot of weight with it. 106 to be exact. I cut out all but one soda pop a day and don't eat as much. It's all a #'s game.
