Low-Carb Diets Giving Fruits a Bad Reputation
theledger.com: "The intake of fruits and vegetables has been too low for a long time," Dr. David Katz, a professor at the Yale University School of Medicine and the nutritional columnist for O: The Oprah Magazine, says. "It was too low before (Atkins). Those diets are causing a problem even if they're not reducing the intake of vegetables very much, and that is distracting people from the absolutely critical importance of increasing both fruit and vegetable intake. They actually have some people convinced that eating fruit is bad for them, and that's wrong."

Great article thanks!! Ken
ReplyFair point but get over it. The truth is most people who are taking an interest in diets and nutrition are interested in losing weight. High protein diets help people lose weight more effectively than recommendations about fruit and vegetables. (If people were to eat nothing but fruit and vegetables they would of course lose massive amounts of weight but nobody is able to do that for obvious reasons). If you want to know about a diet that helps you lose weight effectively and includes plenty of fruit and vegetables check out http://www.csiro.au/index.asp?type=blank&id=TotalWellbeingDiet_Summary
Of course it is high protein and low carbohydrate. The reason: losing weight using high protein and low carbohydrate diets works. Time to face facts.

Reply...then go even further and look at the world charts of the thinner of the world:
The thinnest of the world eat mostly carb. How about that for an evidence? The thinner of the "industrialized world": Italian and Greek in Mediterranean areas, Chinese and Japanese among the Asian, eat about 50% Carb everyday (no whole-wheat stuff, just honest, refined carb), very little or no meat at all, lots of beans, vegs, fruits and fish.
It is unfortunate that no studies at all ever provided that as an evidence: America went on low-fat diet and the obesity increased. Now we're on high- protein/low-carb and we're still the fattest of the world.
