Beating Victim: Death by Fat?
Last week, a 350 pound man was beaten to death by Cincinnati Police.
Big Fat Blog asks:
Yesterday the coroner claimed that it wasn't the excessive beating that killed him, but a number of other factors: an enlarged heart, drugs in his system and fat. A CNN article claims that these only gave Jones a handicap, and the beating at the hands of the police might have been a first step but not the ultimate cause of his death. It sounds as if Jones was, overall, not a healthy man. But is his size a factor in this situation? Would a 120-pound beating victim who had a heart disease and drugs in his system come out all right? What about a 600-pound victim? I am not certain that his fat caused him to die; the videotape, in my mind, says it all.
What do you think?
