In this age of political correctness and the outcry for the humane treatment of animals, some are really thinking outside the box.

Chef Daniel Angerer has been serving up cheese made from his wife's breast milk in his New York City restaurant.

Milk is gross. It makes me sick. And honestly, I don't know why people drink it. We don't need it. Milk is for baby cows, not humans.

Now, even though I don't like milk, it's got to be better than sugary fruits drinks, right? Make no mistake, fruits drinks are not the same as fruit juice. Juice is fresh squeezed. Drink comes in a jug marked "grape".

But if that same cartoon of milk or moldy block of cheese or stale bread or wilted lettuce was in your fridge, you'd probably say it's good for one more day or just trim around the gross part. It'll be fine.

Clearly, a double standard! And kind of makes you feel bad about lambasting the acne-faced clerk for not having anymore in the back. But a new study reveals people really do have a different perception of freshness for food outside their home than for the stuff lurking in their very own refrigerators.

I would be hard-pressed to find a food substance that attracts as much controversy as milk. Whether or not it is beneficial to overall health, whether or not it helps weight loss, whether we should buy raw or pasteurized, low fat vs. full fat - the list goes on and on. Hence, I hope to make an attempt to navigate through the speculation, possibilities and try to come up with some ideas on how to think about this issue.
