Muscles. Hot or not?

UCLA professor David Frederick and colleagues have asked: Why is Muscularity Sexy? Conclusion: [...] these studies suggest that men’s physical features are related not only to women’s expressed preferences for mates but also to men’s and women’s past mate choices and sex behaviors.

One of the studies interviewed 99 male undergraduates about their sexual histories, and, to be honest - can you really believe they didn't "talk up" their exploits?

Forgive the double entendre.

When it comes to the hourglass figure - many women pursue it, and it seems that men pursue women with it.

Psychologists at the University of Texas (obviously with way too much time on their hands) have reviewed hundreds of years worth of literature and concluded: Men lust after slender-waisted women.

Apparently it all comes down to Waist-to-Hip ratio. A slender waist is seen as "a core feature of feminine beauty that transcends ethnic-morphological differences".

Researchers at universities must have a lot of spare time on their hands. Recent research shows that men who are hungry (rather than satiated) find heavier women more attractive.

Some new research from the NPD group has hit the papers this week. 24% of those surveyed agreed with the statement "A person who is not overweight is a lot more attractive." This compares with 55% in 1985 (via NPD Press Release)

What do Kate Winslet, Venus Williams, and Jodie Kidd all have in common? They all have a BMI of around 21. Elizabeth Hurly sits at around 16.

According to research carried out at Newcastle University - there is a "perfect" BMI for a woman. Perfect - as in the most attractive to men. In Britain, the most attractive BMI was found to be 20.85. In Malaysia the figure was marginally higher. The results also showed that attractiveness dropped quickly either side of the 20.85 figure.
