There are two reasons for our obsession with thinness: 'health' or 'desirability'. Many will do anything to get thin for 'glamor's' sake, but under the guise of health.
It seems that we humans take extreme measures - that can be exceedingly unhealthy - in order to fit into the body beautiful culture.

Special K Protein Water

Towards the end of last year - a whole line of Kellogg's "protein-enhanced" foods started appearing on shelves. The growth of the beverage industry never ceases to amaze me.
Kellogg's K20 water contains just 5 grams of protein in a 16oz bottle. Along with that you get 8 grams of sugar (plus some Splenda) - all for $1.50 per drink.

YOU on a Diet and the RealAge Test
You: On A Diet has spent a number of weeks at the number one seller (of all books) on Amazon. This is mostly due to Oprah Winfrey's glowing endorsement of the book.
Some call it "The Top Diet and Health Book on the Market" but others are not so easily persuaded: "It's the SAME info you've heard before." says one reviewer.

Is it the quality of the book? Or the proven effectiveness of the diet? Is it to do with value for money?

South Beach Diet in a Box: What Nonsense
The partnership between Kraft foods and the South Beach Diet has always felt... wrong. I believe the core of a healthy diet means, ultimately, minimizing the amount of processed foods consumed. There will always be a place for convenience foods - but not as a staple. Kraft have pushed the partnership into publicity overdrive with the "Beach in a Box" tour.
