10 Foods That Make You Fart

The Miami New Times recently published a list of the top 10 foods that produce the most gas.

While many try to hide it, farting is a fact of life and we’ve all been busted one time or another letting one slip out. It is true that some foods tend to produce more gas than others and some of that gas can be quite unpleasant not only to yourself, but also for those that get caught in the gas cloud.

The List

  1. Pickled Eggs
  2. Green Been Casserole
  3. Smoked Fish
  4. Boiled Stuffed Cabbage
  5. Curry
  6. Brazilian Rodizio or Churrascaria
  7. Biscuits and Gravy
  8. Collard Greens With Ham Hocks and Bacon
  9. Smoked Oysters In A Can
  10. French Food

Luckily if you are a healthy eater, not many of those foods would have a chance to do their damage. However, there are some healthy foods that are quite potent especially those high in fiber.

Some men, like the rougher types buy pickled eggs at liquor stores. I know, I used to work at one in rural NE.

WHY GET POLITICAL AND SHOW COLIN POWELL STANDING BEHIND GEORGE BUSH & HOLDING HIS NOSE WHEN TALKING ABOUT FOODS THAT PRODUCE GAS? THAT JUST SHOWS YOU ARE NOT ONLY A SITE ABOUT FOOD INFO, BUT YOU ARE A VERY,VERY POLITICAL SITE AS WELL. AND TO THE FAR LEFT, I MIGHT ADD.

I don’t necessarily eat all those foods on the list… but I do eat A LOT & in HUGE PORTIONS of gas producing foods! Yikes! Whenever I eat with others though I try very hard to restrict my fiber intake!! ha ha!

I find that the less net carbs I eat, the less I fart. More carbs, more methane. I remember being quite the windy child, but lowering my carbs and utilizing Beano when eating certain foods has really helped my social life.

Huh? I *never* eat any of that stuff. Why is Fiber One not on the list? Or broccoli soup? Those are killer for me. Well, they would be if I farted. ;o)

I’m sure everyone would appreciate it if you found photographic evidence one way or the other. I’d love to see a photo of a unicorn flying out of Obama’s butt.

Nice photo! Of course we know Obama never has gas… nothing but rainbows and unicorns fly out of his butt, right?

“French food” has no business being on there. Does that mean baguette? French cheese? Is a french pastry going to give you a lot of gas?

I think this is a strange list, too. “French food” — really? What exactly does that mean? I think that’s a bit obscure, surely you can’t label ALL French food as gas forming?

Kind of a weird list, if you ask me. Who eats pickled eggs? I eat a lot of broccoli and spinach and other “roughage” that gives me gas, but I think the worst thing is sauerkraut. That stuff is lethal.
