If you love hybrid words, you’ll love “Piloxing.” And no, it doesn’t involve punching your cat, whilst doing the dreaded Pilates Hundred… thankfully!
It’s a fun combination of Pilates and Boxing, created by Swedish celebrity trainer, Viveca Jensen. This is Jensen’s way of physically and mentally empowering people through fitness.
Piloxing is mainly designated for woman (sorry guys!), and it provides an interesting blend of speed, agility, sculpting and flexibility. The exercise also incorporates the use of one-pound weighted gloves, which add some intensity to your workout by toning arms, and boosting cardiovascular health.

I think this looks like a great workout. And, if you enjoy Pilates, but get bored sometimes, this is a great way to ramp up your normal routine.
What do you think — would this style of workout interest you?

Piloxing is definitely a great workout, and a lot of gyms are starting to introduce the classes. Thanks for the good article.
Hey, this workout looks amazing! I did some research on the Internet and found that it’s becoming popular amongst models and women who are interested in achieving a sleek and fit body. Cheers for the great work!
I suppose the old image of boxing was masculine, but I think it’s becoming more and more popular for women, who are beginning to see it as an amazing workout, as you rightly say.
Hi Susan, I guess it’s true what they say, there’s nothing new under the sun!!
Since Joe Pilates was a boxer this actually makes sense. However, I’m annoyed at the “girlie” aspect for both Pilates and Boxing. Boxing is an amazing workout… but why does it need to be “ultra girlie?”
What.Ev.
From that little clip, it sort of reminded me of Body Combat, only “cuter” with the ultra-girlie pink gloves and lack of references to punching an invisible opponent in the ribs and skull.
There’s a short Piloxing workout on Comcast on Demand, if anyone has that. I did it the other day and recognized a lot of the moves from tae bo, with some new-to-me stuff. It was kinda fun, and I felt energized afterwards instead of my usual exhausted. (probably because the workout was truncated!)
