Kirstie Alley Weight Loss Program: Organic Liaison

It's official. Kirstie Alley now has her own weight loss program called Organic Liaison. Two years ago she was sent packing from Jenny Craig - possibly for not sticking with the program.
She promised she would come back with her own program, and here it is.
From what I can gather the program includes:
"online weight loss tools customized to fit YOUR needs. Whether it's planning meals, counting calories, discovering new recipes, locating places to shop for organic groceries or interacting with the Organic Liaison community through blogging and Kirstie Alley's Phitter"
Phitter is a micro-blogging community built on top of the Twitter toolset.

The range of supplements
Dig deeper though, and she is selling a series of supplements (all USDA organic approved). The main product is Rescue me which "replenishes your body with high-quality organic ingredients, including nutrients, natural herbs, fiber and antioxidants..." One month's supply sells for $62.50. Membership to the program is $10 per month (+ 10 startup fee) - you also need to by the Startup Kit of supplements ($139).
If you can handle it, here is her own video intro to the program. Alley is also doing a reality TV series shortly on A&E - Kirsty Alley's Big Life.
So here's to entrepreneurship, and the gravy train called celebrity yo-yo dieting.

Well this is interesting. I wanted to check out her new show and now I will check out this company too. She seems to be the pioneer of the latest surge of capitalizing on weight loose. Hope everything goes well for her.
Replyi just wanted to know what you thought about the gazelle edge by tony little ive been working out for about a month now and i just bought the gazelle like a week ago but idk if its gonna do anything for me like the elliptical would i do it for a half hour when i dont feel like going to the gym or anything
ReplyWow, this sounds like quite a rip off!
ReplyI lost 25 lbs. in about two months by adjusting my diet and working out most days of the week at home. Mostly just different exercises with 5lb weights and resistance bands, along with squats and lunges. My whole body changed in just two months and at age 36. I don't believe for a second that any of this magic potion for $63.00 a month would help me out better than just plain old diet and exercise.
Ugh, not another celebrity supplement endorsement! It's just another ripoff to get people thinking there is some sort of quick fix out there. Although, if I were one of the multitudes of people looking to buy supplements, I'd probably buy Jillian's over Kirstie's...cuz who would want to look like Kirstie? I'd rather look like Jillian any day. Seriously though, I think Kirstie's diet idea is kind of ridiculous. If she couldn't stick with Jenny Craig, how does she expect to stick with anything else?
ReplyOh I don't know, I think it would be cool to be a Golden Globe and 2 time Emmy winner.
But don't worry about looks cause you could be in some kind of accident tomorrow.
ReplyTo me, Jillian looks a lot like a younger Kirstie Alley (back when she did the Star Trek movie and Cheers).
I think it is too bad that Kirstie wants to make the weight issue another career instead of going back to acting.
I think the problem with Jenny Craig and any diet featuring pre-packaged food (like NutriSystem (sp?)) is monotony. Well, that and the expense. I'm not surprised people go off them. They don't really teach you how to eat in the real world, either.
ReplyMy mom did the Jenny Craig program and she, too, lost weight when she followed the program but was completely lost when she had to eat "real food" again. That's my big issue with programs like this as well. They don't teach you how to eat in the real world. Plus, you're right about how expensive they are. My mom was shelling out big bucks for all that prepackaged crapola and she had to buy all her own milk, yogurt, fruits and veggies.
ReplyThat "crapola" was the best diet I had ever been on. Now I was on the "at home" program so I didn't go to a center( sometimes people can feel presured or like they have to do everything the consultant says no questions asked when they are face to face with the consultant)
But I am now singing the praises of meal delivery systems. Living in L.A. I see no shortage of them and they are a favorite of celebrities, but at $50 a day, thats pretty steep for regular folks.
But they take the food element off the hands of the dieter so they can concentrate on the other components of weight loss like exercise.
ReplySo companies like Jenny Craig and ediets make that oppotion affordable as well as edible for regular people. And yes you are taught how to eat on your own. But frankly the person has to want to commit.
Now I understand you O. You live in L.A., the capital of shallowness, image, and insecurity. No wonder you buy into every one of these things, you're surrounded by it! That kind of pressure is bound to break you down after a while.
I will keep this in mind next time we joust!
Your pal,
Duane
ReplyEasy Duane... I would love to see a more supportive community of people here at DietBlog. and I'm sure you could be a great part of that...
ReplyI saw Kirstie on Oprah when she did that before & after with the "bikini" and then gained all the wight back & more. Oprah called her on the fact that her mindset was wrong & I still think she needs to work on that. This stuff kind of irks me!
ReplyI have the utmost respect for Oprah and all the fine works she has done! Kirstie is also a very accomplished person in her field. The two of them talking about how to be successful at dieting, excuse the expression, is the blind leading the blind. If you are really trying to achieve a healthy weight, look elsewhere for how to do that.
ReplyI gotta hand it to Kirstie for having the guts to put something like this together -- but you've nailed it-- it's the blind leading the blind.
ReplyKirstie needs a therapist more than another expensive diet program. There's obviously emotional issues going on that is causing her to eat like there's no tomorrow.
To those who believe in these programs, wake up! It's all about taking your money. Notice how instead of just offering a meal plan based program to help with caloric intake, the plan is selling supplements. Supplements that have never been scientifically proven to do anything in the area of weight loss. Smell the money people! Oh wait, you can't. You gave it to one of these programs. They're smelling your money. But please, don't let common sense stop you. BUY, BUY!!
ReplyThis is ridiculous. Her weight loss/regain track record is enough to put me off, what makes her think she can be an "expert" on this now??? I hope she can keep her weight off, but I don't think she should be advising others.
ReplyThis Organic Liaison stuff she is touting looks like a crock.

ReplyWho cares if some of her board are from her church. It is not unusual to hire people you know. So what!
ReplyIf the employees are scientologists, their inefficiency, lack of honesty and uncaring and nonchalant attitude when it comes to customer service do not bode well for the organization. I ordered the product (not cheap for one month's supply) and my card was charged on April 15th with an email said my order had been "processed" and was to be delivered via fedex ground within 2-5 days per the tracking number. I was not given a tracking number, so I called 4 days later to get it. The customer service rep. told me that she could not find it, would look into it the next day, and send me an email. I didn't get an email, so I called again. The next agent also could not find a tracking number and could not tell if the order had been sent to fedex, so she was going to speak with the shipping supervisor the next day. Really? It's not rocket "science" after all - the order was place or it wasn't. When I also didn't get her email, I called again on April 22nd. I requested that they overnight (one of their delivery options) the kit at their cost at the company's cost since the product should have already arrived and I was getting the run-around. No one would admit that the shipment was never sent out. Finally, the item was shipped on the 22nd after my call and did not arrive until April 28th. I called on the 23rd, and said I wanted to cancel my membership. In a snotty tone, the girl told me the order was placed so I could only cancel the next scheduled shipment and in another adolescent manner said "it's not like we did it on purpose." Not one person admitted they made a mistake in not placing the order via fedex or apologized to me. I was curious to see if the organic product was an effective hunger suppressant, but it is not worth the frustration of having to deal with such poor customer service.
Other issues - in order to speak to a person, you have to hang up when you are told all reps. are busy and asked to leave a message - then try about 4-5 more times when someone will eventually answer. You are given the impression that if you put in a type of food, the calories will be automatically calculated - but for 90% of the items, you need to input the calorie content yourself. Finally, the "meal plans" are supposed to include vegan, vegetarian, and vegetarian/seafood. Actually, there is no vegetarian plan without seafood, so lacto-ovos don't get a menu that doesn't need to be changed.
I admire Kirstie's tenacity, but the program needs a lot of work.
ReplyNo surprises there. Dig deep enough and you'll usually find an ugly truth.
ReplyI have tried every diet out there INCLUDING Jenny Craig...TWICE! Have you naysayers checked out this website by Kirsty? I did last night and it was AMAZING! Absolutely one of the best diet sites out there! I DID join and it was only $89 (I think) for the year so that's like about $7.50 a month when many diet sites are like $19.99. ALSO I had a promotional code (GetThin2010) that saved me 10%. I did order the supplements, but they actually made sense to me! And I didn't see that you HAD to buy them, although they ARE pushed. Also they encourage you to get a "Chubby Buddy" to help you on your journey which I thought was really cool.
I think it just makes sense for Kirsty to do this since she has struggled with her weight so much! She decided to find a diet that worked for her!
ReplyDear Kirstie,
ReplyI just received the three products for the weight loss program, and couldn't log in to get the actual diet menu plan and am feeling frustrated, can you help me please? I really want this to work, I need to lose 140pds, and I believe it will work. I hope you can get back to me, I know you are very busy, pray someone can direct me to what to do next.
I am a big fan of yours and feel you are one of the really true real people in hollywood. you say it like it is, I enjoyed all your work you've done too.I hope you will get this email. I have been trying to lose weight for years I lose and gain back twice as much. i was told I will not live much longer in this body with all this weight I carry around, I am only 5'4", had lots of surgeries, and need two more, both knees replaced, shoulder rotator cuff replaced, foot problems, back, ribs, severe arthritis, carpool tunnel, and started smoking clove cigs, my whole immune system is shutting down, lost my job working for world peace for 24 years or so, worked at sf zoo with the penguins, and now I am really in dire states. I hope you don't mind me writing you all this, please help me, I live in a terrible place with mold, mildew, sepsis, my dear little boy cat almost died last year from all this, and I developed a lot of skin problems and breathing too, have a man here who lost a million dollars to thieves and so called friends, it was his inheritance, and I am trying to help him out our relationship has been badly hurt, I live in a horrible messy condition, my landlord won't fix my apt. up and have been going stir crazy, my so called long distant parents do not want to help me out at all, in fact say I am grotesquely, morbidly, obese, and I will never change and never have love or friends, I pray this diet and products will help me. Sorry for telling you this, I have no one anymore in my life that cares if I live or die or lose weight. Blessings, Peace to you, your beautiful children, animals, etc... Janice Alden
You call $139.00 a month affordable????
ReplyWell, I have a friend who just joined Jenny Craig and it was 500.00 and this only included two weeks of food and the membership - so I think 139 is totally afforable compated to 500 which only gives you two weeks of food - you do the math!
ReplyGood luck Kirstie. I am following your progress. Saw you dancing on your show. You are already better than kate gosslin!
ReplyL. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology.
In his book “Clear Body, Clear Mind” Hubbard posits the theory that toxins can stay “in the tissues and mainly the fatty tissues of the body.” He further explains that “chemical poisons and toxins, preservatives, pesticides etc, as well as medical drugs and the long list of heavy street drugs…can lodge in the tissues and remain in the body for years” potentially causing “unpredictable trips.”
This very same theory seems to be promoted within Alley’s weight loss program.
The “Organic Liaison” Web site states, “toxic substances get in the way between your body and the natural digestive process that breaks down fat. Preservatives additives, hydrogenated oils, nitrates and other toxic substances put stress on your organs…Your body cannot process those substances and thus stores them as FAT.”
Apparently reiterating Hubbard’s mantra Alley summarizes, “toxins end up stored in the fat area of your body.”
ReplyI have been on OL for two weeks. I've lost 8 pounds and have to say that this is about the easiest its ever been. Why? Well how it works is like this: You drink the release me after you have your breakfast and you continue to drink it during the course of the day. It has lots of organic fruits that are high fiber. The different juices with all their fiber curtail your appetite. I have switched over to eating about 75% organic foods. So - breakfast, lunch and dinner are much smarter choices for me than before. As well - I am exercising. Now - I need to lose 100 pounds and the whole point in this for me was that I was really ready to make some transformations. Going from sedentary to more active has been a joy. Its helping me to make better choices eating. At night I take the release me with a cup of herbal organic tea and it really helps me to stop ATTACKING the fridge after 9 pm (a huge problem for me). Then - about an hour before bed I take the Nightingale which is L-tryptophan (an organic sleep aid). I really love this product and am very happy. But - I was WILLING to examine what got me fat in the first place. As far as Ms. Alley's personal beliefs - they are hers. And if some of what she's learned as a Scientologist helps others in a positive and productive way - I think that's great.
ReplyJust my two cents.
KM, I seen your post how you have lost about 8lbs in two weeks. I also notices that you are like me and need to lose over 100lbs. My question to you is this, if you are eating better and excerising more, do you think it is those two things that caused you lose the 8lbs, or do you truly believe it is because of the OL products? I would really like to try OL but I have tried so many other products and spent so much money that I just don't know if I can waist another $140! Have you gone weeks without the diet and excersise and still lost? How much have you lost to date?
ReplyThank you for your posting!
