Charlotte Church Reveals Her Diet Secrets

In one of the more surprising diet-related stories of the week, Charlotte Church, who has lost around 55lbs, has revealed the secret of her success.

And it doesn't involve pills, surgery, starvation or faddy eating...

Instead, Charlotte explained:

I just eat better and eat less food than I used to.

Charlotte refuted media suggestions that she's had a gastric band fitted. In a refreshing change from the path taken by many celebrities (like Alex Curran with potentially dangerous Sea Kelp diet pills), Charlotte has taken a sensible, level-headed path to safe and sustained weight loss.

So, what can we learn from Charlotte's diet success?

1. Healthy eating isn't rocket science
Charlotte outlined her dietary changes:

Less stodge, less junk food like burgers and chips and smaller portions, with meals consisting of things like lean meat and salad.

With the media's obsession over "super-foods" and exaggerating new research, Charlotte's approach demonstrates that we just need to apply some common sense (and a dash of will-power!)

2. Don't exercise too hard at first
When Charlotte started her diet, she asked her partner Gavin Henson (a Welsh rugby player) to take her out running... but she quickly found that was too much!

Gavin is a trained sportsman and his regime is punishing, way too much for me, what with all the sprints and supershort rests in between. ... They may be great for a rugby player but they left me feeling absolutely knackered.

If you've ever started on an over-keen exercise routine, only to end up exhausted or even injured, you'll know how important it is to ease yourself in gently.

3. Find the right motivation
Charlotte loves her body whatever its size (and so does her husband). But after the birth of Charlotte's two kids, Ruby and Dexter, she had a new reason to be healthy:

But I do now have the perfect incentive to lose weight and get more trim - and that's my kids. I want to be around for them for as long as I possibly can be. Being fit and healthy will help me do that.

What's your diet motivation? Your health, your kids, wanting to look good, or having more energy? Follow in Charlotte's footsteps and find something which can keep you going for the long-term.

I'm not going to lie, but about 50% of my motivation is to look good in my clothes. The other 50% is for my health. Most people in my family that chose unhealthy lifestyles (sedentary, eating too much, smoking, and drinking too much) died prematurely. So I'm doing all I can to give myself the best odds.

I didn't know Charlotte Church had a gastric band fitted...I'm sure it made her first tip easier to follow. Eating less food is a lot easier when you have a tiny stomach.

Isnt she a bit too fat to be giving diet advice? Sort of like Dr. Phil. People looking to lose weight need an ideal (almost impossible to reach) to aspire to, not someone who looks just like them.

Who cares another celebri-tard.

This is actually a little shocking...

Long story short, I thought I saw Charlotte Church on a PBS musical special called Celtic Women a couple of years ago.

I hadn't seen a pic of Charlotte since she was a child ( I guess she isn't as popular in the U.S.), So when I saw this cute but large girl singing so beautifully on this show I was sure it was her. And I wondered how she got so big !

A little bit later I saw on the internet news that she revealed that she was pregnant by her professional rugby player boyfriend. And the photo with the story showed her as being thin.

I thought maybe the show I saw was old and she had since lost weight..... and like some women do when they loose a lot of weight she became at least a little loose in her love life.

Then I found out that the plus sized young lady I saw on Celtic Women wasn't even Church. It was another young singer named Chloe Agnew! So then I went back to thinking Church was still skinny.

Now that I see Church in this pic, She does look like Agnew!

By the way, in the last installment of Celtic Women I saw, Chloe was looking slimmer too.

No way is she just 8 stones in that photo...

Well, she might still be "big" still now but she's beautiful - looking really healthy. Not my ideal body, but no one can say that she looks ugly...

The image is one of her at her heaviest.

I just wanted to point out how rare it is that we see a professional athlete husband/boyfriend claim they like their mate in a larger size or in spite of size fluctuations.

Although I guess this account of her husbands feelings came from Church herself.

But looking at those breasts, maybe it isn't so far fetched.

In the U.S., the closest we ever got to this I think is when football player Kurt Warner's wife had a buzz cut, and I couldn't believe the uproar over that.

People just expect athletes to have trophy wives.

This story really doesn't provide much clarity - that picture isn't recent at all - search for Charlotte Jonathan Ross show - she looks stunning now honestly!!!! So yes - she can give out her diet advice because she has done fantastically!!!! That's why iv found this site for inspiration on how she did it.

As fot the athlete liking trophies comment - size isn't everything look at Cheryl and Ashley cole, even other lovely women aren't enough for men Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry - not all the world are shallow and after trophy catches
