The Mirdle: A Girdle For Men

Finally men… forget about concentrating on diet and exercise — just get some new underwear.

Some call it shapewear, bodywear, support boxers, or compression shorts – but really we’re talking about a girdle.
There has been something of a renaissance in men’s underwear. The WSJ reports that sales growth for men’s ‘intimates’ is out-pacing that of women.

It seems that some men aren’t afraid to take a risk:

Robert Verdi, 39, says he began craving a so-called mirdle, or man-girdle, recently after starting to develop a “muffin top.” “I’m now at that weird age where I’m starting to have a little bit of a spare tire, that midsection squish,” says Mr. Verdi. (from WSJ)

Even Spanx are looking at making a range for men.

What do you think men? Cancel the gym membership and get yourself some ‘compression shorts’?

After having back issues for years (steady weight @ 150 lbs.), I ordered an OBG (6202 vintage) and other items from Orchard Corset a year ago. Well, I got rid of my old back brace and now have a nice mix of girdles that work much better. I have 3 front lacing (EL-ee’s 8), so my back gets whatever compression it needs at the time. You are right about the OBG’s, I wear tights, so I just cut the legs off and use them as stockings. I am still very active at 60 and wear a girdle most days ( at the computer and when I need to stand alot). Good luck to you and your husband.

I saw the picture as well. The model does not look hunched over and there’s no reason at all to think he’s uncomfortable. You have some imagination.

A couple of years ago, I had a heart attack. That’s the bad news. The good news is that my heart is for all intents and purposes undamaged, and I am literally in better shape than I have been in years. I lost a bunch of weight, and am still 15-20 pounds lighter(BMI=23.3)than before the heart attack. Bottom line – I still have a gut. Why? Because my spine is curved outward at the level of my abdomen, and 64 years of gravity has taken its toll. A girdle appeals to me. So you young skinny straight-spined judgemental types can just shut the hell up. You don’t know everything (anything?).

Oh , I almost forgot , he wears women’s Playtex high-waisted , the open-bottom type that do not interfere with his privates , I wouldn’t let anything interfere with that hee hee hee .
The Playtex is the most comfortable , he swears , probably because it hasn’t the same hip spring as most women’s girdles have , I like them myself too , always have .
He has, like me, like anybody , to wear nylons to keep them down from rolling up . But he doesn’t mind at all now if anybody catches a flimpse of nylon around his ankles , he always wears black stockings that are hardly noticeable anyway -
And he says they’re much more preferable and more hygenic to the mens’ socks .

Hi Kerstin , my man is by now as much of an expert as I am about wearing girdles , and now he goes out and buys his own , now that he’s so used to it . He thanks me always now for the first day I suggested it to him . Guess he’s gotten as dependent on girdles as I’ve always been , your body gets that way after a while in them , and he swears that the girdles are slimming him too , and from what I see , they have indeed ! It’s probably because constantly wearing a girdle all day every day makes us eat – and drink ! – a lot less , so I believe .
