Trans Fat Troubles
By Jim F.
New York City has been making headlines with it's move to remove trans-fat from restuarant foods.
However not everyone agrees that trans-fats are as "evil" as we are led to believe. The issue here is consumption of saturated fats:
"What's Public Enemy No. 1 with respect to cholesterol raising?" asked Dr. James Cleeman, coordinator of the National Cholesterol Education Program of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. "From a dietary standpoint, it's saturated fat."
It seems that trans fats have become public enemy No. 1 - which is out of proportion with the low volume of trans fat that is actually consumed. Apparently "Americans eat four times as much saturated fat as trans fat".

Trans fat, sugar and white flour are considered by science to be the possible culprits for causing diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Let these crazy scientists work. A few million people need help. Cookie bars, shakes and drugs are not the solution. What is.
ReplyTrans-fats less harmful than saturated fat? Are you kidding me? The National Academy of Sciences said in 2002 that there is NO SAFE LEVEL of consumption for humans of the man-made partially hydrogenated trans-fatty acids!
