The Raw Crunch Diet

rawcrunch.jpg
Yes it's a diet book - not the cover of a magazine or a calendar. The Raw Crunch Diet is a new book from fitness model Kathy Feldman. Kathy Feldman was once the cover girl for Twin Lab - a sports nutrition and diet supplement company. Feldman also hold a BS in Cellular Biology. - and has obviously had a change of heart and is embracing the concept of raw food.

Feldman developed 'The Raw Crunch Diet' based on her comprehensive understanding of pure foods and true science. "It involves dietary and lifestyle changes that anyone can actually live with," she says, "no more counting calories, carbs, net carbs, fat grams, points, percentages, or precisely balanced meals. Eat anything you want for your dinner meal every day of your life."

The diets other daily meals are made up of raw unprocessed fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

"These elements of natural and organic foods are so nourishing and cleansing that anyone can enjoy this luxury, without all the guilt," Feldman states. "You can run at optimal performance when eating my diet and your body will be fully nourished at the cellular level while reflecting a sleek physique on the outside and healthy hydrated skin."

The new book weighs in at 100 pages and forms part of an overall program including workouts, and the 100% organic "Raw Crunch Bars".

The idea behind the diet is intriguing - go raw all day, but eat anything for dinner.

Raw food diets continue to maintain popularity with their 100% natural approach. However with the fake tan and obvious other bodily enhancements there is a slight inconsistency between the message and the messenger - or am I being too harsh?

The cover of the book is wonderful to look at, but I have a feeling the diet is inherently flawed because it lets one "eat whatever you want for dinner" after consuming raw foods for the rest of the meals--
it's a slippery slope at best, allowing a dieter to eat whatever they want at the dinner meal.
And obtaining raw foods isn't as easy as it sounds--it requires alot of effort (and sometimes travel) depending on where you live and your access to these unprocessed foods.

I am not sure if it is fake per se. Body enhancements for body builders, which Kathy Feldman definitely is.

A lot of body builders have to "enhance" their muscle shapes. you would be surprised to find how many men have claf implants!

But... they are not "one of us" - unrepentingly sugar, fat, fast food, eating masses.

The tan, eh... I bet the publisher made her paint herself! LOL

As for the diet, she jumped on the bandwagon. I do not think it has any decent basis for it.

Eat at the end of the day anything you want? Right before you sleep, just as your metablic rate going to down shift? That's how they get the sumo wrestlers fat.

Hey! This is my kid and all that's there is natural! As for the 6-7 PM choice in foods for dinner vs. fat gain potential (i.e. SUMO wrestlers) "READ THE DIET DUMMY"! That way you will truly understand the chemical and metabolic effect of this diet! Ten nationally noted all organic experts are quite impressed with this concept. And, I myself age age 60 have lost 25lbs on it and feel great every day as a result (now holding at 6'0 and 195 lbs. This is going to be the future guys and gals, so wake up and join in! Good health and happiness to all! -

Thanks "DAD". I actually did buy the book. I did read it, despite being a "DUMMY".

Mr. Feldman (if you are truly him), I am sure, from your unbiased point of view, this diet works for you. Yet, even the "coconut diet" worked for some.

The jury is still out. Let's give some time for the masses to "see the light" and get some feedback from them, shall we?

I have bought and read several raw food books. Kathy's book is excellent. I like how she keeps it simple and that works for me. I drink the Vitamineral Green every morning as she suggests, I eat huge salad for lunch, and whatever I want for dinner. I also don't pig out for dinner. I have been trying to drop 5 lbs for over a year and this weight has finally came off. Her Raw Crunch bars are the best on the market. I recently purchased her DVD and felt I got a great workout in a short amount of time. I admire Kathy for sharing her passion and wisdom for healthy living with others.

I am 5'3-144 and losing. I have lost about 6lbs in the last 3 weeks. I eat about 200 calories around 5 times a day. You don't feel hungry and it gives you something to do. If I go to mcd. I will get a 4 piece nugget and a yogurt. I eat the nuggets right away and eat the yogurt in a couple of hours. I also eat a lot of cheese crackers and things, too. It keeps me busy. If I know that I am going out to eat or gonna have a big meal at night I will just eat 3 times during the day. I went from a very active waitress job to a desk job that is not always so fast-paced. This may not work for everyone, but it works for me. I also know that eating more often speeds up your motabolism. If you are exercising a lot I wouldn't recommend this to you, but if not try it you may have a lot to lose.

I have been a fan of Kathy Feldman for a long time, she has an incredible body (even without the enhancements) many people hope to attain the type of physique she has, I will tell you she has always pushed for nutrition..and you would know how hard she has worked on this if you ever read her site (her site as it was previously set up) and if you ever read her story and history! I am sorry to see the previous set up on her site go.

I think her bars were a long time in the making! A lot of people who train hard create their own bars. I know I did, but I am not training now after 2 abdominal surgeries in one year and a broken foot! Kathy was smart enough (and smart she is) to market hers!

Yes, it may seem a little untraditional for a raw foods dieter to be "eating whatever you want" for dinner...but raw food eating is relatively untraditional anyway...who's to say there is no room for flexibility? I would guess some raw foods in your day is better for you than none!

As another poster said raw / living diet is a very difficult diet to follow and prepare sometimes. Maybe what Kathy is trying to show is raw nutrition for a good part of your day and some meals, may be easier to achieve than all meals, as well as more nutritious than no raw meals at all!

I stumbled upon this blog, researching raw living foods diet. I was curious if it is possible to lose weight with all that fruit and vegetable all day...it would seem to be too much sugar.

I have suffered in recent years with surgical and injury trauma, as well as developing a chronic disorder...and am having a hard time bouncing back...as someone who was fit and working out this is devastating!

I so want to take my life back, and I am grappling with which way I should be eating to do this!

I would consider this lifestyle, I already prepare 3 different types of meals 3 times a day for our family with different dietary issues. This is a total lifestyle change.

Best of luck to you Kathy Feldman you have been an inspiration to many.
:-) Never mind the Naysayers!

I love what Kathy is doing. I have been and am still in the fitness industry with fitness competing. There is a lot of "fake" going on in the industry that claims to be healthy. I think that where Kathy is coming from she is just raising the awareness of the raw food diet. Being a model, and a competitor makes sense with her fake body parts and fake tan!!
I am all for the raw food lifestyle. I have tried many ways of eating. To me it makes the most sense for me right now. So, I am promoting the raw lifestyle. I feel that eating more raw food is the best way to go. To eat as much as you want that can be a questionable way to eat. I don't support that, but at the same time, everyone has to just experiment and see what works for them.

Thanks for your blog!
Alexandra
