Ear Stapling for Weight Loss?
I thought I had heard of every single weight loss gimmick there is - but I was wrong. Ear stapling for weight loss involves inserting a staple in the ear (apparently a stomach acupuncture point).
In September, Robin Gibson, RN rented a booth at the state fair where lines of ladies waited their turn for the latest weight loss rage."It's cool, hey, I like this," said one person who got the staple.
"Dieting just doesn't work, so I'm hoping that this helps," said another. via KFOR.com
The practice has led to back-alley operators illegally? stapling willing suspects. One poor person shares their story:
"When I pushed on it, stuff would come out the holes. It came out of the top hole and the bottom hole where the staple was. It was real hard for me to open my mouth; it was hard for me to chew and stuff like that. It was just unbearable; I couldn't sleep on it or anything."Perhaps there is the weight loss secret - it's hard to overeat when you can't open your mouth properly!
UPDATE The Mississippi Medical Board has ordered a number of weight loss businesses to stop offering the staple procedure. Many states require a license to practice acupuncture.

This has been around before. I remember my older sister falling for this scam several years ago. Got a nice infection for her money!
ReplyUnless you eat by sticking food in your ears instead of your mouth, this is not likely to work.
It may however become a fashionable body piercing statement, so you could be the first one on your block to have one, or two.

ReplyUgh, gross. Nothing like a massive infection in your head to make you lose your appetite. I really hope no one falls for this one.
ReplyI think that all of you are fake. Someone actually made up all that and they are just mad because the "weight-loss-staple" works better than their product. Or maybe it's effecting their income. Sounds pretty right, huh? Well, that's just my opinion and we are all titled to our own. So thank you for you time.
ReplyThis 'idea' is NOT new....it's like a thousand years old...it's called acupuncture!!! IF its done by a professional who knows exactly what they are doing - properly set up & has sanitary work conditions, then I can see it as a good thing. It doesn't eliminate the hunger, it helps to control it. Most of all, it makes one AWARE of the body & the signals it's sending to your brain. Use it as a tool, not a cure....only proper balanced diet & healthy exercise will "cure" it!
ReplyIn reply, I am not a fake anything - inappropriate at times perhaps, but not fake. I am also not trying to get clients from posting on this blog - I just like to post here because it is fun and I like the back-links.
I do really hate to see people waste money on weight loss schemes though. There are really no shortcuts to getting and staying healthy and I think people kid themselves about this while they gain the American 5 – 10 pounds per year until they are obese and have real health issues.
The food industry and the companies that make these products should be ashamed of themselves, of course they are not – they are just making money off of those of us willing to believe their lies.
I suppose if the correct accupuncture points are activated there may be some benefit - most accupunture treatments that I am familiar with however are done by a trained clinician in an office for a period of an hour or so - and you don't walk out with the needles still stuck in your body.
I’m sorry, but if you eat the wrong things and don’t exercise you are going to get fat whether you ears are stapled or not.

Replyhow exactly does that staple thing work? and what exactly do you do?

The "stuff" coming out of the holes was probably pus. Accupuncture is different, since it uses sterile needles and is done by a licensed practitioner. This, however, sounds like a huge scam.
ReplyIt has been around for a while, but I had certainly never heard of it before.
ReplyHi I found this site last night and have been reading and reading, I too am in hopes of finding help to shed about 45 pounds! BUT I went through having had the ghastric bypass, so don't let any one tell you , that you willnever gain weight after having it!
I am responding to the ear thing! I do know for a fact if done proplery it will work! Thing is it is hard to find the propeery people to doit! My friends grandma had to have surgery and they told her she could not unless she lost 70 pounds first, her doctor refered her to an oriental man that did this procedure. She lost the 70 pounds plus 4 more a total of 74pounds! Had the surgery and never did regain the weight! So it does work if done correctly, it is like an art form, not every one can do it! I have called many places that do not do it and no of know where that does. This has been several years back that granny had it done, and the doctor then was nearing or past retirement, so he is unable to be found!
I have been reading about Metabo Speed XXX, I am going to guess that it is unworth getting, all in hopes that it will help! Has anyone heard of this or tried it?
Please let me know!

ReplyI would love to find a support group in this form.
I must admit, I was ear-stapling's biggest skeptic. My wife is a nurse with 2 associate degrees in science, has studied acupuncture for years and has always held a special interest for holistic medicine. This being said I usually trust her judgement when it comes to things of that nature. However, when her and her mother Dr.Hoover started providing the ear-stapling procedure through their Independent Diet Management firm, I about flipped. "You want me to do what?" was my response to her wanting to staple my ear. Reluctantly I let her (you know, gotta support the wife thing) But am I glad I did. I lost 13 pounds the first 2 1/2 weeks and it has now been 6weeks and I have lost a total of 23 pounds.. Almost to my pre-married weight. (That just made me sound like a girl didn't it...pre-married weight...LOL)My wife has had tremendous success with her clients and offers a very informative website for people to learn about the procedure prior to having it. I just thought I would put it out there for anyone interested.. go to www.dietstaple.com .. There is a lot to learn.
ReplyI have had benefits from acupuncture (placebo effect or not), and there is a form of acupuncture where you do walk out with tiny needles in your ear, with a piece of tape over them. They are supposed to fall off naturally in a couple of weeks. I never had it done for weight loss, but I was trying to fight off inflammation (mostly on the lymph nodes) and felt an improvement while they were on. So take that as you will.
I've heard of this stapling for weight loss scam, and also of stapling to stop smoking. If it sounds too good to be true, it must be.
ReplyWell of course many of you are skeptics because of this...I had it done and it has been great. I had the procedure in my chiropractors office who he is licensed to do it,he explains all pros there isnt many cons just if you dont keep your ears clean you can get an infection. But for 20% it is aggressive weightloss around 8 pounds a week 60% experience moderate weightloss around 1 pound a week and 20% experience nothing at all. My doc used a probe to find my pressure points and marked it then he stapled it in...it felt like an earpiercing...I was scared because I thought the worst, but it was great. My appetite has gone from a 10 to a 4 instantly. I am eating 25% than before. I can stop and get coffee at Starbucks a small cup will do and 1/4 of muffin i give the rest to my son. Lunch i can eat a grilled chicken sand no fries no coke(because i dont crave it) and dinner maybe some nuts and water.....Before I would go to Mickey D's and get a breakfast combo and for lunch chick fil a combo and a full dinner...No more I have noticed a diffrence and its like its not even there. cleanliness is key and you should be fine....The procedure runs 50-60.00 and that covers consultation staple and follow-up so what do you have to lose. I feel great and love it.
ReplyI think this is absurd!
Let me get a nail hammered in my foot, it might work twice as good.
ReplyMy sister has had this done and with absolutely no problems. The weight is coming off and her blood pressure is coming back down to normal. My elderly parents both recently had ear stapling done and are seeing amazing results. Sugar craving is gone, so my dad's diabetes is more under control. Mom has suffered from overeating for years. Now the constant craving of food is gone and her blood pressure is better. I am looking to have ear stapling done as soon as I can locate a reputable person qualified to do it.
