Ananova: "Uma Thurman says she lost 25 pounds in six weeks before starring in Kill Bill - by stuffing herself with chocolate, ice-cream and pudding." Said Thurman, "Eating ice-cream, chocolate and pudding. I ate whichever desserts I liked and still lost 25 pounds because I didn't eat anything else."
Sure you did.

Hey, if all you eat in a day is a two slices of cheesecake, you're at ~1000 calories- well under the normal amount that even a dieting desk-tied non-exercising adult consumes in a day. Just don't expect to not be dizzy or violently ravenous in between.
ReplyI went on a fast food milkshake, ice cream, dessert and cereal diet a few years ago. I didnt mean to I just started craving calcium rich foods. I lost alot of weight ending at 115 lbs for my 5'5" frame. I even went to the doctor to find out if I was sick or something. Now I eat what I want and hardly eat any calcium and I've ballooned to about 150 lbs.
Replygoshhhhh can u actulii lose wight by eating ice creamm... am in a shockk which i mean in a good wayy lol, so for a week im gna try and go on a ice cream diet and see if it wrks.. nd u reli lost dat much by jus eatin ice cream?
Replyoh my god Allison that is not healthy at all. both of us have similar heights (I am 5'5 & 115) I really want to encourage you to drop down to your ideal weight (120lbs. is normal of your height) if you're craving calcium why not switch to skim milk, and low fat ice cream tastes just as good as regular!
ReplyWow, Allison wasn't even asking for advice, she was just sharing what worked for her. Don't jump on her and tell her what's unhealthy and what she should do. Geez.
And low fat ice cream certainly does taste worse. And it's not any better for you. Personally, I have never experienced any weight repercussions from ice cream. But everyone's different.
ReplyI am 300 pounds and 5'5" do you think ice cream diet will help me?
Replyi am 900 pounds do you think this diet will help me?
ReplyI would like to add this to your comment abput Alisson, one 5'5" at 115lb is completly healthy her bmi was at 19.1 which as i said is healthy and normal! two she never said what she did was healthy, right or wrong she was mentioning what happened and the results. Also if she is craving calcium instead of skim milk which is disgusting or low fat products that are always high in sugar it would have made more sence to recommend her to take calcium supplements rather then what you recommended.
ReplyNadia, this isn't meant to be rude, but but who made you the all knowing buddha of what is a healthy weight for Allison or for anyone else? Let alone to tell her she isn't healthy? 115lbs might be fine for YOUR 5'5" frame, but it may not be for her. Do you know her muscle mass? Do you know her bone density? No? Well then...
I am asking you as a concerned person who DOES need to lose weight to please keep your judgmental comments to yourself. A LOT of these people who post on here are already ashamed of their own self image and are trying to do something about it. They certainly don't need knee-jerk reactions like yours to make them feel worse. If you are happy with your body, that is great. But, that does NOT give you the licence to make others feel ashamed of theirs.
Please word your future comments with a little more couth.
~Ali
ReplyI'm sorry but I'm going to have to defend Allison on this one. Irrelevant of muscle mass- she can have alot of muscle, but 150 lbs for a 5'5 frame is extremely high, even if she is on steroids. An ideal weight for a woman at 5'5 with plenty of lean muscle would be about 110 at most.
Replybullshit
ReplyJenny is right in saying she in a barelly healthy at 110lb. 111lb for 5'5" is healthy and normal a pound is no big deal....so before talling people bullshit you should take the time to learn about something called BMI!
ReplyRight on Ali!
ReplyAli and Michelle, I absolutely agree with you in the support of the uniqness of each one of us and the weight, of course. Nadia's saying about the encouragement to lose weight, not about that having weight of 150lb is a crime. We are all unique and sometimes we may wish to be slimmer or to gain some weight. You cannot judge Nadia, nobody has such ability. Also, dear Alison, I'm sure that if you have an aim to lose or to maintain the weight, YOU can achieve it,that's why there's a blog - to help each other out to solve OUR weight problems, to SUPPORT each other and to ENCOURAGE to achieve OUR OWN targets.

ReplyBsck to Uma Thurman' idea. If the ice cream, pudding and chocolate were high quality products, except for the sugar content those things are high protien and low carbohydrate. That would spark the idea that it really might be that grain products more so than sugar are our enemy. I'm not encouraging a sugar pig out however. Just a thought. If you want something sweet, just make sure it isn't cake.
ReplyHi everyone!
I lost over 100 pounds by eating chocolate... it's possible that the ice cream thing worked. But there are cravings in between... like every few days you crave mac and chease or something! but that's ok, cos you just eat what you like, in my case it was mostly chocolate. I realised that i'm not a child anymore, so i don't have to eat "sensible" food before i can have my chocy! I don't like sensible food anyhow... so i just went straight for the desert! it's not the healthiest way to lose weight, but i did... i dropped from 264 to 149 (my current weight) and i'm 5'9. I still eat whatever takes my fancy for that particular day: today was spare ribs and fries... so tomorrow i probably won't be that hungry, so it will be a bowl of oatmeal, or ice cream or whatever i wake up in the mood for... may even be chocolate!
The thing is, you deserve to be happy and not be afraid of your body... if you don't want to eat for days on end... then don't! and if you feel like eating 5 pieces of cheasecake on one day.... then do that! and if you follow your instincts, you will probably not be hungry for cheasecake the next day, but for watermelon, or apples, or WHATEVER! what i realised is that i was overweight because i was afraid of offending the world by not eating real food, and then eating all the chocolate i could get because i was so guilty for wanting it!
in the end, the best diet is conveyed in two simple words: F**K IT! eat what you like, no one's going to beat you up about it! (unless you have diabetes or something). Ultimately you find your own balance- WHEN YOU ARE READY!!!
Love and hugs to you all!!

You are a goddess! Eat when & what ... that is the real deal because you are absolutely right* I am conforming to "good" food standard and am excruciating overweight the more I rebel "eating right". I don't know when hard headed me started to cave in... But you just pointed the way out (for this old lady) Thanks, thank you cat (where ever you maybe 2008)
Replyi feel totally hopeless. i have tried every diet,,am on meds that the side effect is weight gain. people look at me and think all i do is eat and that is not the case. i wish i could just disappear but someone as big as me could never hide.
Replyhey don't give up
Replyu are still beautiful
Hey,
losing weight is hard. It is not easy like some may say. it takes a lot of dedication and a strong mind. My suggestion--Find a faith. whatever your belive is rely on it to guide you through your weakness, it helps.
Also dedicate yourself to one thing at a time and you will find that it becomes easier to keep promisises to yourself. Not easy but a little easier, it never gets easy.
maybe your promise to yourself is to walk 10 minutes a day or maybe its no tv after 6 or mamybe its look at your self naked in the mirror everyday for 30 seconds sounds weird but it really helps
ReplyHi Bobbi Jo
ReplyI understand where you are coming from... You do the diets, exercise, 'eat right', etc... but nothing works...
The best thing that I have learnt to do is saying positive affirmations everyday... this helps me to have a more positive outlook to the day... once you start believing the affirmations.. things start to change.. the first one you should use is "I love and approve of myself" - whether you feel this way or not, say it over and over during the day and surprisingly things will start to change once you start believing this affirmation... try saying it in a mirror and really concentrate on looking at your inner self... (this is a bit scary to start with, but it's great to help you find your inner beauty and strength to change what YOU want to change!)
Good Luck with this, I am still doing it and am slowly losing the weight... it's kinda like that TV commercial... 'it won't happen over night....' lol
Keep Smiling!

Hi Bobbi Jo,
ReplyI'm a pharmacist so I've studied lots of drugs and I can understand when you say that there are medications that cause you to gain weight. Please let your healthcare provider know that you're having this side effect and that it's deeply troubling to you. There are lifestyle and dietary changes, supplements and even other drugs that can help counteract the effects of the meds. Sometimes changing the specific drug but staying in the same class of drugs can be beneficial too. There unfortunately are definitely some side effects that we just have to live with, but please make sure you exhaust all your possibilities before giving up and accepting it.
Good luck!
I wish i could help everyone lose weight, its not as hard if you have someone to encourage you. I know how it feels being fat and feeling ugly, but its not as hard to lose weight. Encouragement, Patience and a cheat day once a week is the way. Impatience and deprievation is the root of failure.
ReplyI tried the ice cream diet - that is what casued my weight problem in the first place. Now I follow a low glycemic index diet and feel great.
Replysorry, not to be disrespectful of anyone, but im a 14 year old high schooler reasearching this diet so, if anyone can tell me more about it, please.
ReplyI started the Dairy (Calcium) diet a week ago and have already lost 9 pounds all in my belly and I feel great! I am 5'4 and 197 so we all know that I need to loose the weight! I need the support from anyone I can. Thank you!
ReplyI just happened to come by this site while looking to see if any other cats, ate ice cream besides mine. A funny link to me here and after reading these comments, I choose to leave my own.
ReplyThere is only one sure healthy way to loose weight and that is with diet and excersise. Change from three to six meals a day and make them smaller. Drink plenty of water and elevate your heartrate for at least 30 minutes a day. If all you are doing is walking, walk faster, but walk. Our mothers and grandmothers were thinner because they worked harder and they were physically active all day, we live in an age where we don't even have to stretch to turn the lights off, we can just clap or say "Off". I am 32 years old and like every one else, I struggle every day to keep weight off. If you want to maintain your weight, keep your calories per day around 2000 and if you want to lose, keep your calories around 1200-1400.
i do this!!! All the time!!! i'm 5"4 and 100 lbs, and some days, i just eat ice cream or chocolate as long as my calories don't go over 1500, then i wont gain weight!!
i look for the lowest calorie diet ice cream. An entire 1 litre container of sheer delite ice cream is only 480 calories. i'll eat the whole thing in a day, and have 1020 calories left over for other things!! Or, i can eat an entire family sized block of cadbury chocolate for about 1100 calories. Even if you don't want to eat like that all the time, for health reasons, a few junk food only days with a calorie limit of 1200-1500 WILL see you losing or maintaining your weight, NOT gaining!!
i still choose the diet options most of the time though, even on my junk food only days. Instead of real cheesecake, which is very expensive calorie wise, i make "chocolate cheesecake" by mixing an entire container of extra light cream cheese with weight watcher's hot chocolate powder. 360 calories and tastes just like chocolate cheesecake :)
ReplyLANA,
WHERE CAN YOU GET THE SHEER DELIGHT ICECREAM? I AM IN FL. WHERE WINN-DIXIE, FOOD LION, PUBLIX AND REAL FOODS ARE THE BIGGER STORES. OOPS, AND WALMART TOO.
